Poke fun you will but what an awesome place to grow up and bring up my 3 boys.
Love the community and still one of the few places you dont have to lock your doors every time you leave the house!

Had a mate take a 5 day-a-week job down there, he stuck it for a while, he did a lot of rural deliveries and scored several hunting spots...i think being snowed in got to him a bit so came back north.

You didn't check b4 making the decision to move and factoring it in ☺

There used to be a black powder club. Long ago lost to touch with this interest though.
There also used to be a rifle range of sorts heading north out of town past the dual road/rail bridge over the road.

good gun club in echolands.....so just mananui side of township on same side of river,just.....not sure if they have centrefire range as such but down where they do high phesant over top of the bluff,is about the most natural perfect safe range imaginable...back off towards river and would be shooting into 30mtr high bank.
access to farmland to sight in wont be hard to get either...pretty down to earth folk around them parts.

Seriously outdoors, I asked them last week, no luck. But I reckon I’ll find a place

The black powder range was on my cousins farm over the whanganui river off Hikumutu rd I think they stopped using it not long after they converted the farm from beef to dairy.
