I got the Eneloop Black Pro
    Useless in the GPRS cams
10 days max - about to change to 6volt 12ah Gels with solar panels add ons

I get up to 8 months from AA Enegizer Lithium batts in my Browning normal cams

As soon as I put the Eneloops in the Camera - they show 75%

How long are you getting from them in the normal Cam's

In the moultree and ltl acorn the black pros last very well. they nevr show 100% full but get down to 40 -50% and just seem to hold there. Haven't run them right out for a test but many months. In the pulsar thermal they are brilliant. 2-3x better than anything else iv tried. What charger are you using?

Charger is a real good one (8 bank one cost about 150$) has "soft charge option etc.

Thermal - also my thing - I found that the rechargeable won’t fit into the Thermal (I have Apex Pulsar XD50)
I use the external Bat pack on it. I had a XQ38 that uses AA - but I did not try rechargeable in it
Have a Xq30V Lite coming end of week - was meant to get a XQ50F Helion also - but hard to get - big back orders all over Europe etc for all the XP Helions etc

This is the Camreas I use for the GPRS - have 4 of them

With the GPRS - they hog battery compared to normal log/store SD Card cameras - they have SMS option that allows you to control the functions via cell phone (turn off - or cahnge to videio - its pic/vid size etc etc) this feature alones uses alot of power as it is on 24/7 - but you can turn it off.

    Features:

    30MP CMOS sensor
    1080p HD video resolution
Real time picture messaging to your phone
Send pictures to your phone or e-mail through SMS/GPRS signal
Both MMS and GPRS support, compatible with 3G GSM network
Stores images on up to a 32GB SD card
Long detection range of up to 100ft
    Built-in 3" color LCD display
Sound broadcasting for use as a game call or to set up a security alarm
Water resistant to help the camera function in any environment
    Picture or video settings
True 940nm no glow IR LEDs lighting of up to 80 ft
2-way communications to your mobile phone
    No-glow infrared illumination

I have 2 mms ltl acorns,a 6210 that has done a year on 12 AA lithiums and a 5310 wmg (much better flash) that curently running the black pros. Both remote access cams. youll see some pics from the 6210 back in this thread. Its only transmitting @2 mpa as the old cell tower down there wouldnt t handle any more.

No GPRS .Both use Pxt and/or stmp. Iv got the 6210 using both as Its easier to handle the pics from email and the 5310 pxt only.
GPRS is " always on" ? might be where the battery life is going?

So what Plan and cost is it for you
Using GPRS to email account (which is also to phone) I get charged .20c per Megabyte
So approx 1c per pic - arrives in 40 - 90 seconds - using Vodafone

I thought pxting cost min of 50c per pxt ??

Yes pxt is 50c. smtp is email. I dont use phone for email so dont mint pxt to phone. A little care setting up the camera to keep false triggers to a min is a good idea though. GPRS wasnt an option when I got started, might look at it for the next camera.

That would bankrupt me - wind got up other night and I had 50+ photos.
Very difficult to find places that wont trigger with even slight wind/breeze.
I am bringing in those 2 Bodymedia/Scoutguard cams above - from my European Optic Supplier. (they still from China)
Not keen to promote and sell - because I would get annoyed with after sales enquiry - BUT - if someone thats already in the know and will do byself all the setup and carry on that goes with them - I might consider selling to them.
Be very careful if buying-there is a lot of real crap out there - looks good - but trigger timeframe for example can be so bad you never see anything in pic :-)
Sim card slot sloppy and you loose the card inside etc etc
I bought a couple of cheapies last year (about 79US$ each) got full refund and still got cams - but they are sitting in cupboard - only good if you put on your home where someone will lurk longer enough to get snapped. Surprisingly they have great battery usage and very easy setup mode/instruct - but aprt from that they are rubbish really.

Really enjoying this thread. Am just getting in to trail cams and finding it's a whole new hobby in itself. Here's a few from me. Nothing special in the timber department but loving watching their movements. May be in a few more years they'll be worth shooting...

These 2 have been demolishing the Wife’s flower garden and Hebe plants etc
Did not think they would love eating Agapanthus - now look like been hit with scrub bar.
These pics are 15m from our front door – took a shot at her 2 nights before at approx. 25m with Thermal scope – clean missed the b~~tch !!
Should have used the Shot Gun with Buckshot – would have flattened both with one shot
This old girl – (1 on right) that is her 2015 Fawn and she never had a Fawn last summer – but look – she is almost ready to drop a Fawn any day soon. Amazing ah ??

I have converted to using 6V 12amh Gels on my GPRS Trail Cams
Still keep the internal battery bank full with rechargeable AA - as you will need secondary battery backup when you do Gel change over on the MG980 30M units as you have to disconnect the 6v power cable to access the internal menu/on off switch etc.
If you do not have AA batts in the internal - when you pull out the cable it will cause the unit to default back to Factory original setup (date/settings etc) then you need to reload via Puter all the data into it again.

So the 6V is looking like the way to go, long lasting and literally free running.
