Is it possible to build one of these on the cheap using something like a .30-06 tikka t3 or is the twist rate wrong/action too weak I guess you would need a magnum boltface of some sort, what would be a cheap/effective way for joblo hunter to get into this calibre? how expensive is the brass? is it readily available? Can you run a supressor safely with these big cannons?
The Lapua/Norma Magnum size (.590) bolt face is way to big for the Tikka bolt & action.
I have built several 338 Norma Magnums on Remington actions.
The brass is east to get, the dies can easily be imported.
Yes you can run suppressors on magnums but generally they are big, expensive, heavy & their opperational life is limited, much like the barrel.
Recoil can also become problematic in lightweight builds as can mirage off the suppressor with mulitple shots on calmish days

I've been using this for a month now and have shot a dozen deer with it.
Have nothing but good things to say about it, would be the nicest package ever to sit in the safe.
Have only shot to 750 yards so far but the accuracy from the proof research is a step above most I've seen.
As for the defiance well if you haven't got one id struggle to explain how nice it is.
If your after something really nice contact Kiwi Greg.
