    450 Bushmaster

Tipped this guy up today with the 450 bushmaster. Was at an honest 100 so a good stretch for a sub gun.
He was dead before he new what had happened, bullet performance was good. The loudest noise was the thump as the pill hit home.

Boooya ! Right in the boiler room. Did not do much to the projectile. How far in did it penetrate ?

It had gone clean through the middle of the lungs and was resting against the far side of the skin.

Can't ask for better than that. Expended all it's energy in the animal.

10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

Just did some expansion testing with the 450 BM into a 44 gallon nearly full of water, it certainly makes the drum jump.

    I tested the Hornady 300 XTP, 225 & 250 FTX & the Sierra 230 JHP.

They all hit the bottom of the drum & dented it to a greater or lesser degree

They were all going around 950fps.

You can see that the 225 FTX pistol projectile really flew to bits

I decided to try the 250 FTXs that I have pulled from the Factory Hornady 450 Bushmaster rounds.

I'm glad I did as it really showed the typical lack of expansion I have seen from conventional jacketed rifle projectiles in the past at subsonic speeds.

You could literally load them & fire them again

It is a 308 bolt face, it was made for the AR15 with a bigger bolt face.

It uses small rifle primers & is basically a 284 win cut off at the shoulder.

Can't really make the brass from 284 though without reaming as it is too thick
