    meat dryer , making beef jerky

    hi all , so my wife has asked for her birthday a meat dehumidifier to make beef jerky ... who here does it ? whats the out lay , ... what do I need to get ? is there other threads that have already been started that I missed ? ....
    cheers for any help , I have looked on google , and trade me , ... but would like a little advice first

    Iv got an old sunbeam one. Works mint. Search venison jerky on google with dehydrator in the subject field. Heaps of sites.
    I do a recipe of soy. Onion powder. Worcester
    Paprika and brown sugar

    My oven goes down to 40c so I cut meat up and put it in a dry rub in the morning then put it in oven the next night and cook it for about 6 hours or so.

    there is a biltong recipe on here somewhere

    just make a drying box from plywood with a lightbulb in the bottom, and an angled drip try.

    use silverside, makes the best biltong

    Er, yup - unless you like chewy biltong

    Silverside does not have a lot of fat on it, some folks prefer some fat on their biltong...

    Agree completely. Silverside is the best cut for this
