Hahaha true story... I stopped into dead eye dicks today and low and behold a 338 whisper with a shillen barrel was on the stand for sale... let's say I didn't put a deposit down on a new action today

I dug out some old pics and load data for you.
Back when I could get them I ran 350gr Wildcat bullets for subs that were crazy accurate in the Shillen 1:8".
Found a bit of load data for you too, when they stopped making rem 7BR brass I used small primer Lapua .308 palma brass which lasted much better. 6.5 Creedmoor brass would be even better now. The 6BR brass is a bit of a stretch for .338 and ends up with very thin necks which requires a tight neck reamer to get the accuracy from.
Notice the 300gr subs (.300gr lapua bullets in this case) still hold 820fps at 1000yds with a muzzle velocity of 1000fps! Dont under estimate this beast.

Thanks mate, I'll take some pics soon and confirm it's the same. No load data came with the rifle but there are some handloaded subs and red tipped supersonic ammo.

    Q-FIX 8.6Blk 16inch barrel dpt modular Mk11 suppresor

I will give my opinion after the roar in the south , but to date I simply love my FIX , I have been developing sub sonic & Ultra sonic loads for the FIX from the Faxon website .

It is very expensive to purchase components for in NZ , You can buy new Alpha brass & I so far I have developed loads - Barnes TTSX 185Grn -32.4 gr of Accurate 1680 average MV 2215 groups well.

Sub sonic loads to date are Maker 350 -16 grn Accurate 1680 MV av.1002, Peregrine 280gr 15.6 grn Accurate 1680 yet to test . please dont start with my loads , I am not a expert in this field , old just a hunter .

After shooting a 300 win Mag with 200 grn Percision Hunter the FIX 8.6 is about the 243 cal level of recoil, and so dam hush . There is lots of YouTube videos out there and naturally some haters who probabaly arent hunters , that's what it was designed for , The owner Kevin is a partner in Crusader game park in SA , the Q-fix is used on Water buffalo and warthog and all other species - My effective max. shooting distance I will ensure is under 150yds , and normally thats a long shot in the roar on reds Oldbushy

Grant Ward at sales@tacticalimports.ca has imported some , but with our $ being only about 55c in the USA $ they're expensive , but I just love my new toy

    See that's really interesting.

Have just refunded my Fix back to Grant as it would not group less than 4 MOA with .308 , after all sorts of different handloads and over $500 worth of factory ammo - What a bunch of convincing that took , Supposedly the Holy Fix Rifle could do no evil.

It wasn't until other issues popped up with the rifle that Grant was convinced to give me a refund - Namely the trigger pins being so loose they would fall out and a certain other aspect of the rear end of the rifle I will only mutter through closed teeth occured.

I liked the fix , but for what it was and what it was worth , I wouldn't pay that much for what is essentially a bolt action AR10. Especially not given the performance I was getting.

Yes , the barrel and mounts and everything else was torqued correctly.

Have you had a look at the owloptics website? I believe he made one as a project and was also selling some components for awhile

I might be selling my 8.6 black barrel soon. It is a trueflite but with 1 in 9 twist built on a tikka. ( so simple barrel swap over ) It stabilises 300 smk and 280 peregrine at sub speed.
