As years pass I get more and more pulled toward the Black Powder rifles and less toward the stainless smokeless in the safe. Possibly it`s just I don`t really care if I shoot an animal or not these days. Certainly harder to do with a real single shot.

    Beautiful gun by the way.

How have I not seen this?
WRT your comments about a tang sight, this is what I did to my .54 English sporting rifle - it works well, and doesn't look too out of placeName: 20240702_120452.jpg

    Late to the party.
Bloody great job. Even better project.
Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.

A bit more bang is better.

Oh a left hand flintlock now that's something nice

I have two left hand percussion muzzleloaders
    But not a flintlock

If you can't light it with a rock, you're dealing with a fad.

The rifle was built from a Jim Chambers kit with no lock inlet, and a l/h Rice round faced lock.

Well flintlock ruled in service for 180 years

    Percussion for only 40 years

Then a few weird and wonderful creations before we settled into the self contained cartridge which has now been around for the same amount of time as flint ignition.

So unless flint makes a miraculous comeback I think it history will relegate it to passing ( medium term ) fad.

    Don't rule out potential revival.

Dinosaurs ruled the earth for 165 million years
Far more successful than people, yet they get a bad rap.
Think about it as I go away not using primers

    Go electric
Remington played around with it and maybe its time to have another look at it
Batteries and plasma lighters have come a long way since Remington tried and failed

Must go to the workshop and drop my plasma lighter into some BP and smokeless powder and see what happens

It would be very feasible with muzzle loader.so many electric spark or instant heat making systems. Might be interesting if get back feed like a cattle prodder does if wet.

The recent JapanPM assassination was carried out by a home made double barrel electrically ignited muzzleloader.

    What's old is new again.

I just tried my plasma lighter in commercial black powder

It starts the burn very fast and a good burn
To fast for me to get images

    2FG 3FG and 4FG all good

There is potential there for someone to play with the idea

This lifesystem plasma lighter is a $30 item and I'm sure a trigger based micro switch can be wired in if someone hi tech took one apart

    Great protect for someone
