    carbon fibre stock

Here is a carbon fibre stock I made for a friend. It saved 15oz in weight compared to the original wooden stock. The owner re-shaped the original stock so that it gave a better cheek weld when shot prone.
The rifle is a Sako L61R re-barreled 7mm Practical (7mm/300 win mag) with a 28" Trueflite No 4. Not sure what brand the muzzle brake is.
    Scope is a Weaver Grand Slam 4.5 -14 x 40AO

About 6 weeks from making the mold until everything is done. Lots of time waiting for resin to set! I have never really timed exactly how long, probably in the 10 -20 hour range .

I won't give too much away as I sell a few as a sideline so don't really want to shot myself in the foot so to speak. Essentially it is just a two part mold technique. There is heaps of info on the internet about how to do that, but next to nothing about rifle stocks. Doing the action area took the most thinking, took me two years of thinking about it on and off before I bit the bullet and gave it a go. Carbon fibre isn't cheap, $50-70 a metre, so make a few out of fibreglass first, only $7 a metre Not quite so expensive when you cock it up.
