    Electric ignition is a lot harder than you think. A high voltage spark,ark doesnt always work.

    I have been doing a lot of reading on this, and driverman seems to be right-electric spark seems to be a hit and miss affair

    Thanks for the offer Maca49 but the attraction is making it myself, I do already own several black powder guns-a couple that I would not be keen to fire but also three modern reproduction guns.

    I have ordered several books on the subject from Amazon

    And if you follow my thread you will know how to make a Hawken plains rifle, lock, stock and barrel and it`s got a heap of woompam, (word for loud bang) , and great for nz deer ,I think , have to try it. Homebrew.357.

    I'll have to find that thread, tho having been following your current one I think that I would be pushing a sloppy shit up hill with a small stick if I thought I was to get as good a result.

    made a matchlock with my old man when i was around 13 to shoot marbles at ducks, did some modifications when the old fulla wasnt around and lost my eye brows

    Yea, sizing/angle(?) of such things is something I hope the books I have ordered will educate me on.
