Solution for barrel clamp sorted too

VC, did some measurements this afternoon.

Bolt goes back 80mm, ejection port is only 69mm, and max mag length is 74mm...

    What twist is the barrel?

My 30-284 is running at my max mag length(but I have a cunning plan ) which currently means a OAL of 74.5mm,with a 178amax it is seated deep enough to be using up some powder room, that said it is still pushing them out just shy of 3k (25" barrel)very happily with acceptable long range hunting accuracy.
It would no doubt go better seated out longer if you wanted to single feed.

But I am not sure you would see much gain in light for cal bullets?

Why not clamp the action and mil couple little flats on barrel for a spanner? Think other way around would save taking scope off.
