Nearly finished this. It came to me rusty as all get-out, most of the finish gone, dings and pits. It was only ever an apprentice's gun and been a beater since, but I have a soft spot for Side-by-sides.
It was off the face. I machined a new hinge pin, haven't quite got to the fit-up yet but if that doesn't solve it then I'll be looking for someone handy with a TIG to build up the hook.
Client has put the hurry-up on it. Originally I had intended to re-colour-case the lock and furniture, peacock nitre all the screws and slow rust-blue everything else. But I've had to settle for accelerated-blue the internals and triggers etc. I ended up flame-bluing the screwheads and pin-ends. It's not ideal but pay the piper and call the tune eh.
I slow-rust blued the barrels (about 3 months, they could do with another 6)
Stripped the stock with emergel, lifted all the dings and re-cut the checkering. A bit annoyed I didn't take more/better "before" photos because it's come up good.
More photo's to come as work progresses.
