    Refinishing carbon fibre stock

Got an early model Ken Henderson carbon fibre stock and looking to take a bit of the shine off it as it's quite glossy. So the plan is to try to give it more of a matte finish by either -

1.Matte spray clear coat over the top of the gloss

2.steel wool/wet sand shine off and try to keep even.

Plan is to partially Cerakote stock once I do the rifle, and funds are more available.

It is one of the stocks with a textured for end and grip if that makes a difference.

    Ideas?

+1 matte clear over a glossy finish won't really dull it down much if at all

Once you get down to about 1200 grit wet and dry it becomes Matt but still see through. Coarser than that it will be cloudy/opaque when dry.

Cheers team. Have included photos this time to show model and shine off it. Sounds like option two is the go, and get it down to atleast 1200 wet.

Grey ScotchBrite is also a good option. A bit coarser than steel wool and good for the textured areas.

The circular foam 3m sanding pads you find at an automotive paint supply in 1500 grit and soapy water. Just apply light pressure and it's easy to get even and matte. Or as said grey scotch pads. Although I would still use soap and water to prevent any deeper scratches.
