In mine 55 grains of 4831sc behind the old hornady 150 grain flat base, rifle is well gone sadly but still remember the load.

I have some 145g ELDX sitting here, thought I might load some up for a play.
Any reason why I shouldn't ?
56.5 gr 2213sc - should be good to go
Some of those rifles have been carried thousands of kilometers of rough country with a diligently cleaned barrel and a taped muzzle. Sometimes with a shooter who prides himself on making a box of ammo last years. Just not very many of them.
I had one the same as the one you have pictured. Loved it but sold it to buy a S/S synthetic Ruger when they first came out, should or just kept the Sako 270. I was using 57gn of 2213 and Seirra 130gn Prohunters. I would at least put some rounds through it before recrowning it. Like others have said just go and hunt with it.
I Have Sexdaily. I mean Dyslexia! Fcuk!
I was thinking a ladder 57.5 to to 58.4 in .3 grain increments with 2213sc powder does this sound a bit hot ?
My old a7 270 used to push them at 1/2 moa or less with 58grains of 2213sc
best to try rifle first off.....maybe with a proven mild load or even dare I say it a box of factory first up. only after youve tried it should you even begin to think about how hot to load it. I load for two .270s and they couldnt be more different.
I would start with a box of factory, one less variable involved. Also not your fault if you manage to damage it whilst trialling someone else's rifle
Got a box of 130g whitetails to run through it
good choice...they seen to be a reasonable round and game seem to fall over nicely. the brass is good too just realise you will probably have to decrimp the primers (think hornady use same brass for the superpreformance loads so must be crimping all of it) there are also a couple of different batches in circulation.
If I end up reloading I have a heap of winchester brass here for it, when that's flogged out I'll replace with Norma
Always wanted one, had a 243 Forrester and 222 Vixen in the Forest Service days. It looks a little rough but for that sort of price you can't go to wrong. It should shoot ok, as I have seen some shocking barrels that have shot well. A good scrub out with a copper killer and give it a run before considering a re crown. Hope it shoots for you a good bit of rifle history right there.
Well after multiple deep copper cleans it's finally good, no more copper on the rifling.
Hopefully put some rounds down it soon.
This pic might not show much but best I could do, rifling looks crisp and no obvious damage to me, can't wait to see how it shoots.
You may have to put a fowler shot down there before trying for a group size.
Poor old barrel is probably feeling quite naked after the scrubbing you just gave it
It's all fun and games till Darthvader comes along
I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
Looks pretty good, after a few rounds she should shoot ok.
