    You have inspired me.
As I have two identical rifles I have bubba'd 1 to meet the needs of my son.
Bbl will be knocked off at the chalk mark and foresight reattached to get the weight balance to feel right..

The top rifle was gifted to me by 7mmSaum cos he is such a GC

I hope to be able to hand these on when my son grows out of them to someone else to carry it on.

Shorter LOP and narrowing of the wrist.
Its not perfect but I think it will come out ok

Recently found this post when searching for advice and was inspired by Roktoy's ingenuity.
A couple of years ago I was given an old Slazenger/Lithgow singleshot .22 that I have tidied up over the last week or two in my spare time with the view of teaching my grandson to shoot in a few years time. The rifle had been subject to its fair share of neglect during it's time and was misfiring when I got it. After acquiring a spare bolt from one of the forums "good bastards" aka "HarryG" I have got it working.
I have sanded it down, refinished the stock and touched up the bluing locked away in my "cave" on some recent cold evenings.
Must admit it gave me a bit of a buzz working on this knowing that I will be able to share some quality time with my grandson in a few years.
So proud of my efforts I took it to show another of the forum's "good bastards" aka "Bluecod". He had an old stock off one of these hanging around in his "cave" that he gave to me with the suggestion that I cut it down to be user friendly for little arms.
Following the good advice shared by "Roktoy" and others in the original thread this is where I am at so far in the attached photograph.
Was wondering if anyone has a spare trigger guard for one of these rifles lying around that they are willing to part with.Name: IMG_1309[1].JPG

Dont have any parts but do suggest that you slim that wrist area a lot more to suit small hands . Being able to reach the trigger whilst wrapping the thumb around the wrist makes it much easier to pull and control trigger let-off for small hands.

Garyp in Napier may have some parts in hisstash.

Pretty much snap on that. About two years ago, I was given a Slazenger SS in rather rough condition but did a tidy up on it. My grandson is just five but is pretty damn tall so I fancy I can let him have a go shortly. I'm actually in two minds about starting with iron sights as he won't be shooting one for long but there is a safety case to be made with starting them off on a single shot. If he proves to be keen and competent, he may well end up inheriting some nice rimfires, eg a very good Model 1 Brno.

Yep, I feel the same about the iron sights. I had a few shots with it the other day and couldn't hit bugger all. My eyes are a bit tired and couldn't make out the foresight very well.
I'm thinking of having a talk to a local gunsmith about the possibilities of mounting a rail on it for a scope.
Certainly a safe rifle to start a new shooter off on.

It's not gonna be a viable proposition with that Slazenger as the bolt handle pokes straight out the top. Any mounting system on that will leave the scope waaay above the action. The better option if you can pull it off is a basic peep sight which will give far better accuracy than V-sights but even that is going to be very difficult. You'd be better off finding a rimfire with a bolt that sticks out at ~45 degrees, preferably with a dovetail.
