Do you own one, have you fired one ? I am trying to establish what experience you have with these rifles...

I understand what you are saying about costing it out...
However, there are other as to look at it.
My initial purchase was for a bush gun, something that is solid, can be bashed around without too much guilt or worries. 7.62x39 is $15 per 20, cheap as chips. So rifle, vx1, integrated base and rings, trigger job, chop / thread / recrown, and a DPT 30cal can cost me the grand sum of just over $1000. I could either buy a low end bolt model (bare rifle only) or have something that is fully functional and allows me to go hunting right now...
I like modular systems, and doubt if I will ever be able to afford a Blaser r93, so looking at other options... Also not a 1 gun fits all requirements type person, so most likely it is goi to endup being 3 minimum for bush, medium and long range target

Yes I have fired one.
for a short suppressed lightweight take down they are great,
to base a long range project off one wouldnt be a great idea.
picture going into a shop and picking up 2 more barrels and your current rifle each barrel has a scope.
then having to pay just under $4000
would you be happy?
nah I dont own one, I worked out that a 308 suppressed has all the advantages of a x39 with a few extra bonuses
If you had a suppressed 308 you could load it down to perform like a 7.62x39 or put a high BC bullet in it and shoot out to 800m
seems like the logical thing to do.

Doubt if I'd get away with $4k for 2 x tikka t3, threaded, brake for mag (assuming I use my current can on 308), bases, rings, scopes etc.
Maybe you get better discounts than me

Answered in #22, you want to ask the same question for a fourth time ? Meh
Lets hear your shopping list for bush/medium rifle and a 1000+ rifle then, if you can get that done under $4k ready to roll, that would be a good deal.

To me it's at least 2 rifles and 2 different scopes.
Bush/medium must be something you are willing to bash around, with realistic low end magnification, no use lugging a 6-24 around the bush ?
Loooooong range can be heavy bastard, with serious glass.
VC, I'd be happy with 308 for bush/medium, but if you want to stretch it over 1k, and potentially knock over something at those ranges ?

Im a newbie but honestly I dont think you can get a jack of all trades gun that can do hunting and compete in F class past 600yds. Just one caliber in 308 and reload for 64cents means one set of dies and brass...but at 1000yds a 308 is all but finished, target yes, critters no. Pretty sure Trenthem range wont allow anything over 8mm btw so 308 or less really. I dont think you can shoot a 338, so 7mm? think thats good to 1600yds? For myself Im thinking howa, t3 or sako A7 in 308 with a 6x scope (so 2k) and then a "real" TR grade 308 gun with a decent scope, (so 2.5k+1.5k=4k) bye bye 6k.
:/
not a cheap sport...
One of abes custom lightweight hunters in a caliber of your choice + vortex or weaver superslam whallah.
Mine could do it all out to a thousand i reckon and i dunno bout fclass but it shoots .4moa ish out to 700 so far
