So if you take the steel piece out... Are the two parralel plastic sides wider than the original t3 mag? As yours is t3x isn't it?

I have a t3 in 223 here that has the steel insert. I believe when you take the steel insert out you will have a mag that is basically the same as the 308 family size. But you are obviously missing the correct follower

Modified a metal magazine today. Have it feeding perfect. Pushed the bottom of the z spring back and flipped the spring upside down so the long end mounts in the follower. I had to trim a small bit for this to fit. I did have a spacer at the back of the mag and it's threaded so I could add something but it actually feeds better as factory.

Can feed 2.5" cartridges now and seems to feed factory 55 sp at 2.155" as good or better than factory plastic mag. I trimmed the metal exactly like earlier in the thread.

Feeds long bullets great but not so good with short bullets as the can tip up too high after they leave the feed lips.

I removed the ridge at the green dot so I could install the long end of the z spring in the follower.

I also made a pin that was further back at the blue dot to do what the pin at the red dot was doing.

I also left the follower standard as even though it sits higher at the front it doesn't come out without trying and it actually allows single feeding with long cases.
