Get a 4wd ground anchor then you can use it in two places!

I think that will be my new project, get my mig buzzing away making a ground anchor

just researching at this stage for shapes and so forth and have found that 12v DC winches have a duty cycle of a couple of minutes then they need to cool off and rest for 5min or so?

something i probably should have known along time ago but im just learning now

maybe just set up both my winches on the front of the truck and take turns with each as I have potentailly a 200m stretch I need to get thru of soft sand

    Oh 200m makes things different.

The amount of time it will take you to reset everything will probably be long enough for a cool down period

A 'bush winch'? Some sort of arrangement that goes on your wheel nuts, Jack one side of the truck up and have your wheel free spinning

If you had nothing on your back winch you could use it as a capstan. Would need a long rope but be the quickest and easiest way I would have thought.

Just empty drum, wrap rope around one or twice and pull as you drive winch. Would require a wireless remote or another person to drive winch

now thats thinking, Might fry the winch if I get complacent but thats easy to just watch the heat

looked at those chainsaw winches (lewis winch) and they cost a ton, ie 2k+ without the chainsaw so unless i can find a second hand one thats a bit steep an option

Iv also decided that not getting stuck in the first place is a great idea and gone and ordered a set of 32x11.5 tyres and with them on my 8 inch rims let right down it should allmost float on anything, it wont help the trailer cutting its own track but should help with the bigger footprint

yea they are a cool idea using the turning wheels to drive you forward,

they use special wheel nuts and a clip on drum Im not sure what that would do to the shims in my LSD but im sure it would fuck them by jacking up one side and using the other

I wonder if I can make something I can drive ontop of with my back wheels and use the tyres like on a dyno to drive a winch
weight of truck vs wheel slip
