    Best .22 ammo

    Hello,
I am new to shooting and recently purchased a HK416.22 along with some ammo, browning performance rimfire 40grain HP.
I had a few issues after only shooting about 30 rounds. Two rounds fired in the action part so they weren't fully in the barrel causing a loud bang.
Could anyone shed any light on this issue or suggest the best ammo to be used in this rifle/type of rifle

    Cheers

    Mark

Your experience with BPR is very similar to mine. Except I think I had some that didn't sound as grunty as well and possibly one didn't even go off, but it's been a while. Get some CCI for a play

You need to get a selection and see what your rifle prefers. Probably easier said than done as there doesn't appear a great variety around right now.

I'm a CCI SV fan, cheapish and performs well, however throws the occasional flier.
Have recently bought a brick of Norma Tac-22 to try as plinking ammo.

The Browning BPR was rubbish in all my rifles.
Warning, Fiocchi subs would not cycle my Marlin 795.

I've also got Eley, RWS, S&B. Different rifles of mine like different ammo but across the board CCI SV works well in most of them.

So you recon the problem is the ammo not the gun?
I will get some of that ammo and try it out.

CCI is my go to. Like the others said its a good price, and shoots pretty consistently. I wouldn't advise the Winchester subs, so many of those went off with a crack for me.

Speaking of Winchester .22 Subs ... Guncity just started a sale for $109 / 500 rounds (42% off) of the stuff

Sellier & Bellot subs I've found to be best for my usage. Way more consistent than what I've tried.
    Its my go to ammo

CCI Standard velocity is the cheapest ammo you can buy and is usually the best value in regards to decent accuracy for the price.
Not any good for hunting be great for target shooting/plinking.

I use cci std for hunting. Did a test with the slazenger yesterday win 333 good enough for possum shooting, rem goldens good enough for possum shooting aquila slightly better than the first 2, cci std real good 12mm sized hole gecco semi auto even better 10mm sized hole, some really old rws hp the best <10mm hole . These were 7 shot groups cheap gun cheap scope and mounts prone off a bipod in a paddock at 50m. the first 2 were still good enough to head shoot possums at 50m...

CCI always seems to work best in my rifles,
I mostly use subsonic hollow point stuff but also have some mini mags which are good,

brought a packet of norma tac 22 and 2/3s of the packet I had wouldn't eject from my lithgow, ended up carrying my cleaning rod with me to get the cases out while shooting,
the aguila stuff worked alright in both of my rifles although I cant get the subsonic stuff most of the time, wouldn't bother with the 60gr ones unless you've got a fast twist rifle, but thats all that my local seems to have.
