    .243 ammo in a 7mm08

    Hey guys,

    Quick question for you pros.

It looks like my 7mm08 gun may have had some .243 ammo fired down it. I'm not sure, but its possible a few bullets to a pack.

Would this damage the chamber? And if so how much?

Shouldnt have damaged the chamber as the pressures would have been quite low
A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time

This one would have damaged a bit more than the chamber
2 rounds from an old pack of 308 note the difference in headstamp

It would be interesting to know what is to be seen down a borescope.

How does the rifle shoot now ?

More tongue in cheek: has anyone got an old 7mm08 theyd like to doNate for a trial working up through .243 .260 7mm08 .308 maybe 338 fed if its still intact ( taking appropriate precautions of course .....)

ouchies... saw someone fire a .270 from a 7mm rem mag the other weekend. Some tosser had been fiddling in the shop and obviously wanted a 7mm rm for his collection (snuck it into his .270 packet). Unfortunately the hapless shooter didn't notice, cambered and fired it. No apparent damage.

Check your ammo people! There are a few combinations that could be fatal! ie .308 in a .270.

Fired about 10 rounds of .308 out of a Mosin Nagant using a very long string. Worked quite well until we jammed the barrel in the ground.

Yes oddly enough there was also a 300 Win mag in this ammo packet of all-sorts. Fortunately 300 Win mag case is too long to chamber in the 7mm rm otherwise you could kiss bye bye to your face.

Thats the guy at North Akld Deerstalkers ?
If so, the rifle wouldn't chamber a round of the 'right' calibre after he'd fired the 270 so there must have been some damage to the chamber.
Never a good time to have something like that happen, but this close to the roar - bugger !
He had a nice cut from the scope under his right eye too.

Sounds like a typical hunting trip !

Shot a 260 out of a 308, still made it onto the paper somewhere as heard it hit, like 4-5 Moa, was little confused at time what had happened?? Hardly any recoil or noise, didn't figure out until later. Didn't seem to do any damage to 308 as shoots awesome still but much more careful now when have both rifles at range

when you look at third photo, you can see they are reloads, the righthand one has clear line from ??neck sizing?? die
left hand one has it too but not as clear....easier to see it on left side of case. Ive made 06 out of .270 but did it through dies.
