makes you feel good, when your life is judge to be worth 10K

If i accidentally killed someone, a friend or someone unrelated, weather it was a car accident, shooting accident or bar brawl.

    I should go to jail….

I believe he was a firearms safety instructor of some sort.
He was experienced and understood the risks involved in hunting.
    Yet he still shot someone
We should all learn from this, as it is mostly experienced hunters shooting other hunters. Most of us are experienced, and we would never shoot someone by mistake - right?? Bet he thought that too.
Complacency is our biggest enemy here.
    Dead is better likes this.

Being hyped up to shoot a deer no matter what is the biggest enemy here, enjoy your surroundings, your mates, time away from the pressures of life, the birds the clouds even the rain and snow.
Who knows you might even see a deer and not even feel like shooting it.

I agree. And the worst day hunting is still better than the best day at work.
I've been out heaps of times and seen many deer and not shot any cause they weren't what I wanted.

The urge to shoot the biggest stag during the roar makes the mind play tricks on you. And because of the idiots like that that go hunting, I don't hunt during the roar.

Getting shot at doesn't rate highly on my to do list.

What really worries me the most here is that he shot someone wetting blaze orange right???? I just can't imagine how a firearms safety instructor (correct right??) can shoot someone wearing blaze?? It sticks out like dogs balls!

In certain light blaze orange (especially older faded blaze, or 'its brightish orange thats close enough right') can look quite similar to the red of a red deer. Shooting at just colour is like shooting at just sound or movement... DON'T DO IT!

Haven't there been a few studies in the USA which found no difference in the number of accidental shootings of hunters wearing blaze or not?

I think I read that they did a study and found it even with people who got shot. It didn't matter what they were wearing, people just shot at colour or movement.

Personally I wear a camo jacket when hunting, cause the way I see it, I would rather someone shoot at movement rather than shooting at a colour in the scrub. If they shoot at movement, then they may miss. But either way, not good hunting in an area with other people. I think your just asking for trouble. The times I have split with hunters, we have hunted different gullys or valleys and never broke over the ridge regardless of reason. And we exited the same way we went in.

It clashes with my hand bag Toby.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
