COLFO - memberships numbers of sub organisations

If the membership of organizations that make up COLFO only contain 5% of the total number of firearms users in NZ, where are the rest ?

    Rough sums give me this

    250,000 license holders
    5% = 12.550

Pistol NZ - probably around 4,000 members
National Rifle Assoc (Fullbore Target) - around 300 members
    Deerstalkers - ???
    Sporting Shooters Assoc - ???
Antique and Historical Arms Assoc - ???
Black Powder Shooters Federation - ???
    Service Rifle Assoc - ???
International Millitary Arms Society - ???

Deerstalkers must be the largest chunk of that, the Hutt Valley branch alone has something like 700 members ?

Where are the other 95% of firearms users ? Do they not belong to any clubs or organizations ? Or are those clubs / organizations not part of the COLFO grouping ?

NZCTA seems to keep its head down, it wasnt a lot of help to the wairarapa gun club before it got pressured.

Personally I'm not a member of any club, range or association. If the 95% are like me, that's a huge funding pool not being tapped.

You guys are so critical, careful, you'll have the council members in here crying at you soon.

Just kidding, they don't know how to reach the real community, just collect their money.

I agree with you @Jexla in the sense that they haven't done enough but they have contributed to the NZFDT and the court case that is underway.

Other groups like FOUNZ and Kiwi Gun Blog have made more of an effort reaching the community (especially on social media) in a short time whereas COLFO have taken years to... sorta not do much.

Member of CTA, NZNZ service rifle association, and IMAS. I refuse to join colfo because people like richard lincoln, ken rountree, Kiwi gun blog and FOUNZ are a lot more active, and aggressive in standing up for our rights, and challenging nz police horse s*&t

Service rifle and IMAS are both "represented" in COLFO

Clay Target / Shotgun seems to be the most noticeable one not there, as well as Target Shooting NZ (smallbore). Correct me if I am wrong.

Anyone know what the national membership of Deerstalkers is ?

We are definitely in the Facebook generation. Groups like Kiwi Gun Blog, FOUNZ etc are seen to be more active, but does anyone really know if these are groups with wide support or actually a single keyboard warrior who just happens to make a lot of noise ?

I am still amazed by the fact that the vast majority of firearms owners are not involved in organized clubs or associations. Seems like a massive waste of potential members, especially when so many shooting codes are dying a slow death...
