The people that have been ideologues and liars over the past years will undoubtedly continue to do so.

It is refreshing however that some common sense is returning.

While the propaganda does what it always does (trying to spin things to suit their narrative) there are a few thinga to notice

    - People are starting to see them for what they are and no longer believe everything they say

Alone the fact that they can o longer hide these tidbits but have to try to spin them tells a lot.

things are changing for the better. I am optimistic

Now re-read that last sentence, he's not saying they are obtained by license holders, he is saying they CAN be obtained. But he is implying they were obtained by license holders. Weasel words if I ever saw them. It tells you a lot about Richard Wilson.

Until today, arms dealer charge with suppling firearms to non licenced people, probably desperate for sales with the lack of licenced people looking to not trigger

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

Oh but he (Wilson) forgot to mention that their own data gathered over 5 years had showed only 2% of firearms recovered by police from gangs & unlicensed people were of NZ origin. How convenient?!

It will be an interesting case to read, the persons been charged with 'dishonesty' offences as well. So it kind of sounds like someone that works in a gunshop and has been nicking stuff. Time will tell all I guess.

"We see this as a significant source for how gangs obtain firearms," Wilson said

Doesn't line up with the OIA data Mr Pinocchio Wilson

Seems to me the good superintendent was attempting to have a bob both ways, alas to little too late,
As commissioners Costers coffee cadre have found out .their political masters got the right royal arse and now theryre left naked and vulnerable with new bosses who it seems want some answers and wont be flattered by toadying or arse kissing.
as for that other odious entity he must think his silence offers some protection of something-another myth.

some might say what could happen is akin to shootin fish in a barrel!

Significant as in via the 99 out of 100 shipping containers that DONT get opened and inspected portside?

Or significant as in 3 or 4 firearms a year from dishonest employees of gunshops?

A lie , no matter how you word it or dress it , is still a lie

    Well no, the dictionary says:

    significant:
    adjective
    1. sufficiently great or important to be worthy of attention; noteworthy.
So if a 1 out of 100 guns in gang possession were used in a murder then the source of that gun would be: worthy of attention; noteworthy... significant.

Technically it's not a lie, but it is a deception. He is not a liar, but he is deceitful.

    Really?

I think it is interesting when language like this used. Because a lie can be a misunderstanding, or just repeated. For example he could just be repeating what he has been told (the lie). And we know that police management hold the view that gangs source most firearms from LFOs.

But if we look at his use of language we can see he knows the truth and is being deliberately deceptive. Which imho is far far worse than a simple lie.
