New license is 5 years. Re-newel before expiring is ten years, same as previous license should have been. Re-newel after expires or reinstate is 5 years. If you had a ten-year license and got the paperwork in to renew before it expired and have received a 5-year license, then I would be contacting FAS and asking about it.

I wonder if it’s because I had an endorsement added. Maybe doesn’t count as a renewal.

If you are only adding an endorsement to your 5 year A-cat then yes it will still expire at the 5 year mark you originally had. Your next one would be for ten years. Adding an endorsement would not be considered a renewal, was the same way back when I added my E-cat endorsement.
