This is a similar equivalent to some of the stupid visual cues that were used in our MSSAs years ago. Rifles weren't allowed to look bad.
Ergo rifles aren't allowed to be too powerful
Aussie at present across a few states are very into this.the firearm is irrelevant.
If the person is trusted and vetted correctly (see what I did there), then it shouldn't be a problem.
It isn't about common sense, it's fear and quite possibly votes with a gun hating police force in the background.
I believe the Canadian taxcinda wannabe Trudeau has apparently shitcanned one of their latest firearms bans.
Just been reading up on it. There was an energy restriction I believe. 100000joules.
Didn't matter if it was a ruger n01 or a weather 460.none practical for terrorist activities but classed as Armour piercing by the rozzersas justification

One only has to think along the lines of ' I dont use/own a semi auto, so it doesnt bother me" , let them fall under the bus ......nek minute !!!

You know what? My son advised me not to reply to this. He’s 16. And he was right. Bugger that.

But what you’ve said is a load of bollocks! And this is the problem with the internet…

    One random example…

The .408 Cheyenne Tactical (designated 408 Chey Tac (10.36×77mm) by the C.I.P.[3] from 2013 to 2021) is a specialized rimless, bottlenecked, centerfire cartridge for military long-range sniper rifles that was developed by Dr. John D. Taylor and machinist William O. Wordman. The round was designed with a possible military need for a cartridge for anti-personnel, anti-sniper, and anti-materiel roles with a (supersonic) precision range of 2,200 yards (2,000 m). It is offered as a competitor to the most common military NATO long-range service cartridges such as .338 Lapua Magnum and the .50 BMG.

Two “c” words in play here brother. Condone and compromise.

Cartridges mate, cartridges. Start with getting that bit right and maybe the rest will follow.

I have absolutely no concern whatsoever about my regular hunting cartridges.

Yup during the madness of 2019, a credible source came across a list of chamberings that PNHQ were actively considering making prohibited. Essentially anything "more powerful" than 30/06 as I recall.

And these same people will have no qualms about arming you to the teeth with all sorts of nasty shit and sending you to war to kill people and die for them.
But they hate you to have access to firearms.

Because that is what war is mate. Old men talking and arguing. Young men dying. Nothing more, nothing less.

Quite simply. You are either fit to own firearms or you're not.
Owning one gun or 100 guns doesn't make you any more or less dangerous. Owning a 50 fundamentally isn't any more dangerous than a 22. Without sounding too much like a conspiracy theoryist. Except to the government.
When was the last time both parents and 3 siblings were shot dead in their house by a 50 without anyone hearing a peep?

So really we all know it isn't for public safety or anything logical except for political grandstanding.

Yup. i think that the rifle that is used the most in offences is the good old ruger 10/22. Only probably cos its the most common.

Same when the fn57 first came out the media made a big deal about it and nick names it the cop killer...as the whole cartidge was designed to have more armor pen than 9mm. Long story short the original projectiles were banned for civilians and for a long time no cop was even injured by e as it was so expensive because almost every gang banger has a 9mm. Exactly that because its most common

That's great for you that you are not concerned.
    However you should be concerned.
Having vanilla flavored chamberings is not going to help you or me.
The powers that be want us disarmed and that's the end of it.
That's why we won't see another war.....
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

308Win One chambering to rule them all.
