    Go figure
It is fucking farcical Maca. The dickheads that initiate and pass these banned firearms/cartridge laws have zero understanding about the subject matter. Taking away a .338 Lapua from a firearms owner on the basis that they are being proactive because it could be used against the Police and leaving that firearms owner with his/her .17HMR is just extreme nonsense. I have no doubt that the same firearms owner could place a projectile from a .17HMR with lethal accuracy were he/she inclined to do so. The point in all of this is that the people who have rifles with the calibres/ cartridge types on the WA banned list are not so inclined and therefor to ban them is nothing more than dumbwankery.

What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Quite simply. You are either fit to own firearms or you're not.
Owning one gun or 100 guns doesn't make you any more or less dangerous. Owning a 50 fundamentally isn't any more dangerous than a 22. Without sounding too much like a conspiracy theoryist. Except to the government.
When was the last time both parents and 3 siblings were shot dead in their house by a 50 without anyone hearing a peep?

So really we all know it isn't for public safety or anything logical except for political grandstanding.

Yup. i think that the rifle that is used the most in offences is the good old ruger 10/22. Only probably cos its the most common.

Same when the fn57 first came out the media made a big deal about it and nick names it the cop killer...as the whole cartidge was designed to have more armor pen than 9mm. Long story short the original projectiles were banned for civilians and for a long time no cop was even injured by e as it was so expensive because almost every gang banger has a 9mm. Exactly that because its most common

I watched the Police Commissonare and the Premier on TV last night announcing the confiscation they couldn't contain there glee, there are more major announcements to come. I fully expect to be fighting tooth and nail to retain my rifles over the next 12 months and can see only rural landowners having the right to own a firearm in the future.

For once Flyblown I agree with you.

I think that we need to stand united on this issue and bloody well fight back. Its bad enough that Semi autos are gone.

Its like death by a thousand cuts from a razor. Slowly but surely these wallies will ruin our sport and passion, for some people their businesses, and they wont give two fucks about who they squash whilst they're doing it, because 'they are doing it for the safety of all NZers'

    Horseshit.

The reason we will lose our hobby in the end is Apathy, that and the fact that most user cannot seem to understand that throwing each under under the bus in the vain and forlorn hope that they will be allowed to continue their particular discipline or hobby in the short term.

Some FAL user groups seem to have the perception than some firearms are "badder" than others based upon the "look", Calibre, action type or the fact that they were "military grade" whatever the hell that means.

I have done my bit with multiple donations to COLFO and other groups, (for all the good it has done) and will continue to do so. I will also continue to support all the different user groups and disciplines even though I am not particularly interested in them.

Hell I would support the Muzzle Loading Morris dancing user group even though I have Zero interest in either...............its their right to do what they want as long as they remain "law abiding"

Make no mistake whats happening is Aussie is already underway here.

WA has full firearms registration and the firearms they are banning have been selected from their registration records which is how they have so much detail, the exact number of people affected, etc. We don't have such records here YET but wait until we do! All this is more proof of the historical reason we are permitted to be armed by the Bill of Rights 1688.

This is interesting about historical and legal rights.
