    Interesting point ebf.

Yet we discuss issues like this on NON hunting forum with several million people (not fb) and can get an actual interesting dialogue going with several points of view. Same goes for the 3D printing thread, but then the people I speak with there aren't as close minded and are a little (lot) more tech minded, as some are around here. Go figure.

Do anti gun people really think crime would even romotely decrease if all guns everywhere were banned? people have been killing each other for hundreds of thousands of years and I'm sure if you go through time they take up a very small percentage of human on human fatalities.

People will kill people whether they're using a semi auto 223, a tea spoon, a sharpened tooth brush or just their bare hands nothing can change that.

This clipping is just a bad joke of a strawman argument though.

For my two cents worth (bloody inflation it used to be a penny's worth back in the day) the title of this thread is an absolute truth.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

It's the nut behind the butt.
I leave my firearms in a steel box. A form of solitary confinement in the hope that when they come out, they will kill the first deer they see

Rushy - how was your Kaimais hunt?

I am absolutely looking forward to that Neckshot, even if it is a long way off yet.

    Preaching to the converted BH

The argument is way too one dimensional though...

On the flip side you can't argue that a semi auto rifle is not a more effective weapon than a baseball bat. Some of the gun nut fraternity love hauling out the tired old argument that vehicles kill more people envy year. Same argument applies, it is the nut behind the steering wheel.

And last time I checked, soldiers all over the were still being issued with semi auto rifles with high cap mags (not baseball bats or vw beetles), quite simply because it is the most effective individual weapon system the human race has come up with so far... Which would you rather face, a nutcase armed with a flintlock or a nutcase armed with an AR and a couple of high cap mags ?

Base ball bat could probably be just as lethal if you are on the receiving end of it and have nothing to defend yourself with

technically it is the impact of the bullet that does the killing, not the gun.

Yup, you're absolutely correct. As could a screwdriver, brick, spade, and just about anything else...

But that is not really the point is it ?
