Thread: Have Gun City done a big clean up on their website?

Having a browse today - looks like all AR-15s have been removed, including many accessories like high cap magazines. The semi-auto category itself has been hidden, though you can find the semi-autos through the calibre selection (or just by searching). I also can’t find many of the other semi-autos that used to be on there. All guns on the homepage now bolt action.

Well that's hardly surprising, the Tipples are a resilient bunch and are playing the hand they have, They are due to hold a press conference today to discuss a raft of subjects so we shall see what comes of that.

Can't speak for GC but I was in our local fishing hunting shop this morning soon after opening, and while I was there I watched them sell out of 30rd AR15 mags. There is no way these things will ever be out of circulation. It's hard to understand how these things were ever allowed to be sold here openly given they are illegal to use without E endorsement. I've never owned an AR rifle, I can't see many people wanting to own a 30rd mag for one just for fun, so the only real reason to buy it is to use it.

Not quite. Most will end up in semi autos but there are bolt action rifles that use these as well, mainly because they are so easy to source. Mossberg MVP is a bolt action that uses standard AR magazines. Ruger Rimfire bolt action and their older 96 Levers use the same magazines as their 10/22 and you are allowed to use a 25 or 50 in them just not in the semi. Dont get me wrong, please. 90% of the rifles will be semis. Ever been rabbit shooting in Otago? Mackenzie Basin? If you use 10 round mags you will be loading more than shooting....

At the end of the day the one thing we must find is a way to stop this from happening. Personally, I do not think a law change of any sort will make a difference, as he was very clearly able to break the laws we already have. There are many questions we as a country need to find out.

As for the magazines, it was a bonus using a 10/22. No sticky out thingy to jab you in the back when carrying on the sling.
Not like a stirling bolt action years ago. a 10 shot mag but would jag me in the back if I had it fitted when slung over my shoulder.
But I do understand What @timattalon has said. Its bad enough with a semi/pump shotgun if you catch a bunch in the tight stuff.
