I added to mine that I'm an older shooter (and not hunting now, just indoor benchrest target shooting).
The weekly socialising at the club is great for us older folks. We have a reason to get out of the house, and not just sit.
Plus the coordination and concentration levels required help to keep our brains firing on all cylinders.
There are also the folks who have a disability that precludes them from active sports, and the gentle art of target shooting allows them to get out and participate.
These are points often overlooked by young and fit hunters, but maybe the benefit to the nation of having fit and healthy outdoor types, and the mental boost for us older or disabled folks could be part of your submission too?

Although to be fair that was a multi-check-box question, I hit every check box that was relevant which was about 5 or 6. Including the 'concerned member of public' or whatever it was one if I recall right. Gotta tick the boxes, get the stats up.

Someone earlier made the comment that it's possibly better to make the submission short and more direct that long and raising every point - I tried to keep the answers really short although some just didn't work like that. There's more stuff I thought about putting in but it tends to make it too hard to get through and you might lose the punch of your message.

I really feel that if the advisory groups that were set up were effective and working well this (the consultation) wouldn't be happening - but the feeling you get is some of the attitudes and ways of doing business seem to be so entrenched now that the only way it's going to change is a complete redo of who runs the show.

Public consultation is a standard part of a proper legislation process. It's how it's supposed to work.

Hell I have even seen posts on here with members endorsing a “you don’t need that type attitude”, we all need to post against this sort of influence !

That said I spoke with a mate last night who knew nothing about it and am getting him to post, so remember many don’t go on the web so phone around your mates and even offer help them submit.
    You get what you get.
Remember clearly the lack of financial support COLFO received when they previous lot were in power, heading towards the "semi" ban, last figure I saw was in the 3,000's for financial donations- from 250,000 LFAO. Don't expect much better this time round.

Took me three hours. Wr owe to ourselves to fully participate in this. NICOLE McKee and ACT have worked really long and hard to provide us this opportunity so please make the best effort if you havent already done so.

absolutely the benefit of teaching young shooters who can move into hunting or target shooting - I love teaching young hunters and shooters - coaching target practice - been my work for years - 25 years as a Mountain Safety Instructor - years of teaching young shooters - make them better hunters or start them into target shooting loved every minute

I am wondering if this link we were sent to is for a submission as it reads more like a detailed survey

    https://consultations.justice.govt.n.../consultation/

If this is considered a submission then I have done one. If not I have a different version that I can email in as a submission too....
