    Thanks for this.

From this statement it appears that the Judge found that it was reasonable to believe that the Large Capacity Magazine in question "HAD" been fitted to the Semi Automatic Firearm.
Yes, the judge could not draw any other reasonable conclusion given the guy did not have a non-semi rifle that it would fit, also in his possession at the time. Your only defence is having an excuse firearm also in your possession whilst you have the hi cap mag.
10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

Personally I think E cat standard of security should be a minimum for A cat as well, willing to spend a $1000+ on glass and only $150 on storage???.... but that's something else.

Depending on who did your vetting you would need more justification than just 'I have a rifle that could use the same bits'.

This may tie in with the thread quite well...

Gunsnz.com are stipulating you're not committing an offense, but how well they know the law I don't know?

Troy Defense Sporting Rifle 5.56 NATO Pump-Action

Scroll down to the bit highlighted in red - Where someone possess's an acat semi AR & this, that's where it gets tricky...

Also to add to this, can someone tell me the legal magazine capacity limit for non-semi's, pumps, bolts?? Are 30 rounder's legit??

    Regards
    Sas

There are plenty of better reasons to apply for an E cat. It's not hard to get.

Thanks Sas, I'll take a look at that.

Re magazine capacity for non semi-automatic firearms, there is no limit whatsoever.

There isn't one. You can use 100 round drum mags if you want.

That Troy pump action is pretty cool. Nice way to own an AR with its cosmetic features intact.

Haha and here I was thinking it has been 10 rounds this whole time because years ago I was told this from a guy at my local sporting shop...

Yeah, I'd be keen to try one out in the new year. Some good reviews on youtube about it, very cool.

30 round mags, pistol grip, and adjustable stock are useful.

Buy an airsoft if just the way it looks is the appealing feature

As to original post, the burden of proof is on the firearms owner that the high capacity mag wouldn't ever be used on the A car firearm. And no doubt they've heard very excuse under the sun.

Yup. The cost of defending your stance would well outweigh the cost of setting yourself up for an E-cat. The uses for a hi cap mag in anything other than a semi would be few.
