Picture and serial number recording of firearms

Just wondering If anyone out there keeps records of there firearms for theft or insurance purposes. I recently heard of some stolen firearms being found by a shop that had to fit new bolts and due to the owner giving pictures and serial numbers to the police the guns were found. I recently recorded all mine. Paranoia or warranted after all the recent firearm thefts?

There is a site run by the police where you can record numbers and photos.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.

You would be silly to not have a record of all your valuable possessions,I'm interested in the police site for this purpose for firearms

Very interesting,as it's a general goods site it could have some worth.
I have my own (and as overseas a employers insurances) records so am unlikely to use it myself.

When doing the interview for my E endorsement the vettor asked if I would like to register the makes and serials of all my firearms for police records, to which I politely declined. Cloud stored photos+info sounds good for insurance purposes.

What are they going to do with a photo and a number?

Much easier just to follow people home from the range.

Or the shop. Or follow vehicles with personalised license plates that scream "I shoot guns !" Oh wait, that's what happened...

Yes to keeping photographic records of my stuff, but then some are already registered with the Police.

If Police wanted to disarm firearms owners, surely it'd be easier to look at the address of the FAL holder and then pay a visit?

I spose Im worrying about nothing , by all accounts the E cat register is a mess , and if you factor in the usual incompetence of the police........probly not in my lifetime
Yes I'm sure the Police would simply accept the word of every FAL owner
