It would be a far better use of Police funding than most of Cahills wish lists....
The police do not require firearms training.
The purpose of armed police is power and control though creating fear.
That is the reason that the media always show you a bunch of police standing around armed with AR15 and Glock, when the incident is over. Firearms are never put away after the threat has disappeared but the opportunity is taken to impress upon the public, that police can kill or maim you with impunity.
The fear factor is higher when you know that when the guns come out, the stazi will hose down the neighbourhood indiscriminately.
