    A bare, barrel blank surely, is just that.
    Until it has been threaded to fit the receiver/action and reamed with a chamber for whatever cartridge is proposed, then it really is only a precision machined steel tube.
    There is no need to describe it as a barrel.

    Call it a barrel, and it seems Aramex wants to get in your way. A steel tube for engineering supplies - not a problem.
