First problem is I cant drop on my knee... Even if I could I wouldn't tbh. I'd lmao if I saw someone drop to their knee in front of me to show me the guns empty.

Never had a issue with the RO at the NZDA shoot I attended. Just ripped out the mag locked the action back and doneskis.

Nobody said that you had to take a knee - admittedly it might not always be practical but if the surroundings permit, it's easier to flick out any live rounds in the chamber and retrieve them in the same movement.

Suck it up Toby, Im sure we can all remember moments when a chill went up our spines, I have had a couple and you develop a another sense around firearms and especially the person with it in their hands ( and even more of a sense if you dont know them!). Never feel guilty about saying something there and then if your not happy. Better to be sure than sorry

Straight out the handbook. But once basic is finished you don't take a knee no more, that's way oldschool.

If they say it's g2g I don't check. If they say it's empty then I will.

    And say CLEAR

So the rest of your sqaud or hunting/shooting companions know its clear and been inspected by the receiver.

Me too - if out bunny shooting etc on farms, its pretty common to be passing guns to your mates while opening/shutting gates or climbing over fences.

If its empty I generally (I'm too honest to say I've never forgotten) open the bolt to show them as I hand it over, if there is one up the spout I will tell them, I don't eject it but do lift the bolt and engage the safety. Should go without saying that its pointed in a safe direction as well.

I don't think its really necessary to always empty the chamber before handing it over if you're with people you know/trust and the state is communicated clearly.

I thought your comment was for the whole clearing process...I wouldn't drop to a knee either although I don't think it stupid, just not necessary.

My bad on the way I wrote it. I dont think letting someone know the rifles state is stupid.

We understand Toby just giving you some shit, make sure you take the bow out of the bow and remove the arrows be fore handing over. One knee would certainly look good

And I suppose you'd want it unloaded, small calibre I also suppose and a single shot without a pistol grip or muzzle brake?
