    It's okay, I'm sure the gent who left the firearms in the vehicle will be charged and sentenced to more than what the thieves will get, if caught.

    Not sure it's about deterrents or not. It's more about a lack of respect for other people. And about an inflated sense of entitlement - feeling entitled to take the property of those who have something you don't have.

    Most poor people are decent and do not think like that.

    Other wrong thinking is the lie of materialism as pushed in the incessant advertising breaks on NZ TV: that happiness comes from having stuff. When in actual fact happiness comes from good choices and from what we do and achieve.

    Stealing stuff to become happy is as mistaken as eating your enemy's heart to become as clever, or as strong (or as happy) as him.
