@jusepy81 Wrote, "Went to register my guns , found my cell phone number is already in use apparently...... ?" I had exactly the same problem. Reason: At some stage in my life I had created (or partly created) a RealMe identity, using my current cell phone number. Something to do with GETS or a job application, I forget... Solution: Phone RealMe (don't try to use the internet WOFT!) explain the situation. They can see your previous identity and will simply DELETE it while you are speaking with them. Over the phone RealMe staff are fantastic to deal with and very helpful (don't try to use the internet WOFT!)

Also @Jusepy you wrote, "Do I have to ring them about my 308 Weatherby Vanguard." Legally, maybe not, but if your rifle is stolen or lost, and you want to get it back, I suggest you give them as much information as possible, so yes phone them and update model details.

Just on that I think their system does not collect enough information like, Blued or Stainless? Fluted or not? Iron sights? Picatinny rail? Threaded? Muzzle brake? Stock; style, wood or synthetic, if synthetic, colour? Make, model, serial number of suppressor, optics (daylight, thermal, night vision?) and the list goes on... I gave them all of this information, so if they find my scope, they can trace it back to my rifle, then back to me and (Hopefully) return it. (I might be dreaming there....)

"Victory loves preparation!" So before I phoned FA to register my rifles, I made a spreadsheet with all the relevant information which they require and all the relevant information which I wanted recorded. The person who I was speaking with said, "You are answering all of my questions before I ask them and you are doing them in the same order as my form? How is it you are doing that?" I went on line and copied their format before I phoned! So, you quote Lord Baden-Powell, "BE PREPARED!" And don't make it a drama for yourself.
@wekaman you wrote, "the registry being wrong until it eventually becomes an issue." You are correct, so however you register your firearms and accessories, go back into the system in 24 - 48 hours and read through the recorded details. If any detail is incorrect, and if there is not an EDIT function, phone them and they will correct it whilst talking with you. Easy!

Last note: I don't do any of my firearms compliance on line! I phone and speak with a real human being. Without exception if have found both RealMe and Firearms Registration team very, very helpful and pleasant to deal with. If you personally have a beef with the Police and/or Politicians, please don't take it out on the font line office staff, they are there to help YOU!

You don't need a real me to register your guns over the phone though.

Exactly, that's why I rang them. ( I should have expressed myself more clearly)

So who's had to supply photographic information with their registration of obscure or maker unknown firearms ?

I've just had to provide images for a number of items in my registration that clearly do not exist in the FSA data base.

Yep, because they flatly refused to believe the serial number.
Sometimes, people who collect things manage to accrue VERY unique items. I guess this was one of those occasions.

@Hugh Shields post clarified the whole sorry situation for me.
Positive intelligent, orderly, well organised and respectfully helpful.
I know who I’d rather spend a day on the hill with.

Hang on a bit longer. They are currently testing a bulk upload system for collectors to do exactly that, a call for some willing volunteers to trial it went out about 8 weeks ago.

Oh boy could I tell you a current story that I am embroiled in (refer to my last post in the “Things you hate” thread). I will expand on it when I have prevailed but suffice it to say that I am not happy and using your vernacular the wee spotty Herbert’s that are all of the adjectives I used in that post are learning their pedigree from a master wordsmith.

The detailed spreadsheet is exactly the way, but don't send it to them, the will just say NO like @Rushy has said.

Instead, make yourself a cuppa coffee, get a couple of chocolate biscuits, then phone them and dictate the list to them. It's that easy!

About 24 hours after that go online and look at the information to make sure it is correct.

Also remember, after all that, you have to personally go to the police station to VALIDATE you're registration. Take two or three type of photo ID and a current power bill to verify that you still live at that address. Then go to a Cafe and have a coffee and donut! You've learnt it!

Well was talking to nice fella today up side of a mountain and mentioned something I firmly believe we as a nation LOST when the old register got canned... We lost two good, positive interactions per purchase, with police. I vividly recall going with dad to get permit to procure?? Then to sports shop to get gun, then back to see nice man in blue again. That was possibly fourtyfive years ago and one of MY first interactions with police. Online may be all fandangled fancy but face to face is better and more positive. We have bugger all good, positive interactions with each other anymore and that saddens me somewhat.

You have to take the form to Police Station for validation before you get access to view, took 6 days after presenting the form before my list was made available.

yes one of my favourites occurred ewhen i was nursing .got bailed up by a wet behind the bloody ears spotty herbert manager who had the fucking effrontery to ask when i was going to retire .
Richard cranium struck me at the wrong moment "listen here lad I had a registered nurses uniform on and was working here when you ,yes you were nought but a grubby thought in your old mans head!"
he fluffed up like a gay budgie on styeroids and marched off .later heard hed complin ed to a mate of mine but got no sympathy ,simply told dont go near him cause the choke barrel may be even worse for you .
thank fuck it saw the light and shortly after inflicted itself on aussie!
