@jusepy81 Wrote, "Went to register my guns , found my cell phone number is already in use apparently...... ?" I had exactly the same problem. Reason: At some stage in my life I had created (or partly created) a RealMe identity, using my current cell phone number. Something to do with GETS or a job application, I forget... Solution: Phone RealMe (don't try to use the internet WOFT!) explain the situation. They can see your previous identity and will simply DELETE it while you are speaking with them. Over the phone RealMe staff are fantastic to deal with and very helpful (don't try to use the internet WOFT!)
Also @Jusepy you wrote, "Do I have to ring them about my 308 Weatherby Vanguard." Legally, maybe not, but if your rifle is stolen or lost, and you want to get it back, I suggest you give them as much information as possible, so yes phone them and update model details.
Just on that I think their system does not collect enough information like, Blued or Stainless? Fluted or not? Iron sights? Picatinny rail? Threaded? Muzzle brake? Stock; style, wood or synthetic, if synthetic, colour? Make, model, serial number of suppressor, optics (daylight, thermal, night vision?) and the list goes on... I gave them all of this information, so if they find my scope, they can trace it back to my rifle, then back to me and (Hopefully) return it. (I might be dreaming there....)
"Victory loves preparation!" So before I phoned FA to register my rifles, I made a spreadsheet with all the relevant information which they require and all the relevant information which I wanted recorded. The person who I was speaking with said, "You are answering all of my questions before I ask them and you are doing them in the same order as my form? How is it you are doing that?" I went on line and copied their format before I phoned! So, you quote Lord Baden-Powell, "BE PREPARED!" And don't make it a drama for yourself.
@wekaman you wrote, "the registry being wrong until it eventually becomes an issue." You are correct, so however you register your firearms and accessories, go back into the system in 24 - 48 hours and read through the recorded details. If any detail is incorrect, and if there is not an EDIT function, phone them and they will correct it whilst talking with you. Easy!
Last note: I don't do any of my firearms compliance on line! I phone and speak with a real human being. Without exception if have found both RealMe and Firearms Registration team very, very helpful and pleasant to deal with. If you personally have a beef with the Police and/or Politicians, please don't take it out on the font line office staff, they are there to help YOU!
