I know this has probably been asked before but I don't have time to trawl through 26 pages of info. I can't get the registry to recognize a Ruger 10/22 off it's database to allow me to enter the serial number .... any suggestions ?

Youd think one of the most common guns in nz would at least be in the register. And they want accurate data? And its an offence to supply incorrect information?

No issues registering a Ruger 10/22 there were multiple options for models. No sure what viper is doing wrong.

@Markos, thanks for that, good to know you got yours over the line. Made me have another go this morning . Entered the information in again but in a slightly different sequence and successful.

Meh the design of the system is terrible. It's like the worst features of a paper based manual system crossed with the worst features of a database. It lacks a friendly interface for non-computer savvy people and I don't remember seeing any guides on how to use it. You can't really blame people for struggling with the pile of runny shit it is.

It is not the most intuitive program , entering a serial number had me stumped till I happened to select a rifle off their list and suddenly another box opened up. That part to me wasn't very clear.
Then it surprised me as I have a French Unique semi auto .22. Not exactly common and I thought this one will be a phone call but bugger me it was on the list.
Like all computer programs a mix of ease of use and frustrating interface.

No, that is the common language term. The technical term is CLED (Copious Liquified Excremental Data). Ha ha ha ha
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

So, just rang the registry number as I cant get the bloody thing to work. Wont accept password.

Spoke to a really nice Indian lady who was immensely helpful. All guns registered in 15 minutes. (there's a few)

One she had to freehand as there didn't appear to be a corresponding model. Its very old.

Not so painful afterall. Im still quite concerned about the security, but I didn't have a choice really after the triggering purchase.

Now, a stupid story. Mates son has had his licence suspended for demerits. Police turn up to the house and revoke his firearms licence on the grounds of 'not a fit and proper person' anymore. For talking on his phone apparently whilst driving.

Anyway, they want to take his rifle. His uncle has a licence, so the Police drop rifle off there. Turns out his licence is expired and has been for 8 years!!!! They didn't even check to see if it was current before handing the rifle over to him.

    Cue music

'it's time to put on makeup, it's time to dress up bright, meet the muppet's on the muppet show tonight...........'

Just did the Registry thing after not being able to resist buying another firearm. The actual registry part of the process was pretty seamless. However it took me a couple of hours to get through the RealMe registration, first attempt I could not get the confirmation email to come in to my nominated email account, after about very 3/4 attempts it would lock me out for around 10 minutes, I then finally figured out that the confirmation emails were ending up in a Spam folder, So in we go for another attempt, this time I went for the Verification by Phone, That also did not work because the system would not accept my Phone number, apparently I had used that phone number for verification on a RealMe account associated with my company, FFS. I then had issues with it accepting my user name, even though my chosen user name was not available the system did not tell me that until after pressing the next button, it then took me back to the beginning of the registration process. By that time I was tearing my hair out so i went direct to the RealMe website, BIG MISTAKE, not sure exactly why the process there was so complicated but the process had me taking selfies on my computers camera, nodding and shacking my head, blinking for the camera, I shit you not. All this took about 15 attempts due to me apparently not looking directly at the camera???? SHIT. So at that point I went back to the Firearms registry website and out of desperation put in my username and password and bugger me I was in, even though I had not completed the process on the RealMe website. So after about 3 hours of hair pulling I was done. PHEW.

I wonder if they 'Flag' you , past a certain number of firearms in the registration process . How many might be considered too-many ? Thoughts ?
