It does make me laugh when I'm accessing things off my android device, have to use 2FA and then copy and paste the resulting code over. It kind of strikes me as a 'secure but not really any better than a password' attempt.

Apparently 10,000 people signed up to the register - at that rate about 6 years to do everyone. About a year and a half past the deadline!

I read that too as I'm one of them due to circumstances beyond my control

I see the latest in the media too - interesting viewpoints from all commentators.

    https://www.newsroom.co.nz/act-confi...-on-gun-reform

I'm not sure the justification of 'the Police want it' really validates the expenditure of that much public money - very hard to see where the cost benefit ratio figures to fully support the introduction and upkeep of the system will come from. If it's truly secure, functional without errors and the cost to the people forced to contribute their details is minimal then it (apart from hassle factor) won't cause any issues even if it does no benefit longterm. On the other hand, if it increase risk of diversion, consumes a huge amount of resources that could be better utilised elsewhere and doesn't reduce the amount of firearms being held unlawfully what is the actual point?

From that I see the gun hating Cahill using the aussie port Arthur rhetoric.
Bloody well know he wants it for future confiscations..I mean buybacks.
It beggars belief that he would have them put, at a minimum, 200 million into establishing the registry instead of putting it into better wages and conditions for frontline coppers.
Plus the mouthpiece pollies that have no idea

Righto folks a valid point to think on, National have promised 300 more Front-line Officers from the existing Police Budget. The Firearms Register allocated monies covers that quite neatly and we all know it is only a matter of time before the Police HQ start diverting said funds to what they deem more urgent/pressing matters anyway as they have always done. There is also a very good reason Police Minister (Ginny) Andersen would not release the new Licencing Fees regime before the Election, that in itself tells LaFOs it is extremely bad news for them. Food for thought.

Well for starters Press reports haver it aussie police recruiters (NT/Queensland)has signed up at least 100of our present frontline to jobs in aussie theres33%of that projection gone already, and theres not guarantees how many of the r eamaining 66% willactually graduate or remain devoted to working in a fetid hell called NZ.
Ginny Andersen-shed have been better deployed building sundecks on submarines -useless wee beige keyboard tapper.

Got my paper application in to renew my firearm licence last week, so no point prolonging the agony i thought and had a go at the Registry. Well despite repeated attempts i couldn't get past the realme thing so gave up on that and tried to ring them but after being put on hold for 20 min i gave up on that too.
Got a mate coming around for lunch today with his teenage son so ill ask him about this realme thing , he might be able to tell me where i'm going wrong LOL

Update- mates son was too busy on his own device! but mates partner is a bit of a IT wizz and got this realme login thing sorted in a couple minutes . So now i've got this ultra complicated username and password that i would never have thought of on my own.
Anyway after ole mate and his family left i logged back into myfirearms no trouble at all, and even though its been designed by 'Micky Mouse' i got all my firearm details entered without much trouble, until i clicked on submit and it told me i had an invalid ID reference !! WTF is that no idea, so had to ring them today. A very helpful bloke answered almost straight away this time and told me all i needed to do was delete the extra drop boxes that i didn't need, so did that and it excepted my submission PHEW

The reason is that the details are with the Govt to discuss and make a decision on, however after 6 months of sitting on them, the govt have decided to leave it till after the election.

....think you need to read between the lines in that comment: it's been left until after the election for a reason....
