What happens if you have a couple of different sized mags for the rifle haha.

I think it must be just for internal mags, I registered 2 other rifles with detachable mags no issue.
Not sure why it doesn’t just say mag capacity in the options instead of No. 3, 4,or 5….. probably would have saved them a 1000 phone calls, then again, so would making a link to the firearms table available

You would think the numpties in charge would use something like "3 round internal", "5 round internal" rather than a cryptic 3, 4, or 5 on its own. That wasted half an hour of my life I'm never getting back.

The problem is these Regulations were written by people who have no comprehension of anything Firearms related. They were written by Bureaucrats for the majority of people that inhabit the Firearms Authority, namely bureaucrats. Every Govt Agency/Public Service Dept is staffed with these people. Yet another reason you have to enter the details yourself, to absolve themselves of the cluster it is turning into rapidly. Enter the Police who will fight tooth & nail to keep it under their Jurisdiction, they will say it is for Safety but the real reason is the massive Budget that is involved to run this monstrous Bureaucracy which, like they have always done, will divert it to other uses which is exactly the reason we are where we are now and we have this monstrosity of a cluster in the making. This has nothing to do with Safety it is just another Govt Dept like MSD, ACC, NZTA and staffed by like minded bureaucracy intent on keeping their jobs. We the Firerarms Owners are just the means to the end.

Have you had an activating event which triggered your registration? The vast majority of LFO delay this as much as possible at least until McKee has a chance to bring justice and redemption to us. I like to believe the register will be scrapped as per pre-election promises. I can't imagine cindy and nashi fuming....

I hope they can do away with the requirement for A cat firearms to be registered. Then if they must keep a register, use it for B cat plus bring back E cat and use it for that too. That way they can't be accused of scrapping the register.

For those of you who have been forced to participate in this farce, please do yourselves a favour and validate your MyFirearms profile ASAP. This enables you to see what arms items are registered in your name.

I went through the validation process last week and this evening logged in for a look. Blow me down, there's a rifle registered to me that I already rang them up about roughly 2 weeks ago to transfer to its new owner. I have confirmed with the new owner that he completed his side of the transfer by ringing them up.

The little faith I had in these pricks is now down to zero. If it wasn't for going through the hassle of validating my profile I would have no idea about this.

    Had similar scenario.
Easy way to validate is have them read out over the phone what firearms are registered to your name.
Same thing - still had a rifle I sold and logged with them weeks ago. Corrected them.

If the system relies on us chasing them up to ensure their database is accurate then it is 100% doomed. But we already knew that.

Don't get too excited. ACT aren't the government. National will be considering how scrapping the register will play to the rest of the electorate. Agree though, the registration process is a mess.

Can we leave the politics out of it please guys ? This thread is meant to be about "Using the firearms register" not debating the merits of it or getting into political discussions/debates.

    That's difficult.
The creation of the register was a political act for a political purpose.
An opinion on its merits (or lack thereof) is usually a political opinion.
It's alteration or abolition will be another political act.

That said I'm avoiding doing anything that would be a triggering event.
I renewed my licence 9 months earlier before it became a triggering event.

@Cyclops the forum has a no politics rule. DannyB bas reminded people about that nicely, you can either follow Danny’s request or the thread might get shut down or you might be given a break from the forum for a while.

    @stug @dannyb I wasn't challenging the recommendation - that wasn't my intention. I accept and understand it.

What I was trying - badly - to highlight is that this whole discussion thread is mostly political.
It has strayed from its original premise of discussion of issues with using the register to the merits of the register.

I repeat I accept the recommendation.
