The times I’ve rung up I’ve poked and prodded the help desk people for info. Apparently their focus is increasing total registrations no matter what. Data accuracy and providing a platform with proper self-service features be damned.

That's what I figured. There will either be KPIs to get x amount registered in y time, or political pressure from police heirarchy to get the most possible registered to make it seem like it is successful.

Of course, if it is corrupted data it is totally useless, but that's clearly not a concern ir being reported on.

When you call them to request details get fixed and/or deletion of a duplication, Record the whole conversation, I'm not sure about the legality of this but I loaded an app after a car crash and recorded the abusive calls etc. It was a help assigning fault etc and peace of mind for myself in case the lumpy stuff hit the fan later.

I printed of copies of all my rifles recorded on the register and filed them.

Having recently sold a rifle I photographed the registered details of that rifle minus any personal info and emailed it to the new owner so they can register it exactly how I did.

Just had a look and its still registered to me so I'm guessing the new owner hasn't done their part yet. Unfortunately the FSA do not record that you have rung up to to tell them you have sold a rifle.

Purchased a 308 recently which activated the registration , I did it over the phone and it was pretty painless. Just hope the records are safe and stay that way.

    Helpful into to some

I had a couple of new old guns to register this morning
Rang FSA at about 9:30am and got through without waiting a single second !!!!!
Very helpful woman and had s decent chat about wait times.
She told me Monday mornings are now the quietest part of the week.
    And to avoid Friday's

So do your business Monday mornings

Next question is , Do I have to ring them about my 308 weatherby Vanguard. On the list there is a weatherby but no weatherby Vanguard ?
My 303 enfeild was easy to do though , listed as a sporter lol.

    Any help greatfull received .
    Cheers

Finally had to join due to change of address. All smooth enough for the most part, except for one I had to call in that they didn’t have in the models list.

    Helpful, friendly staff.

    One point of note -
I had a draft that I had started and saved, but not submitted.
This was fully visible to them.

Actually I have had the same problem, being a bit online illiterate that is.

Not with this site, actually IRD, they are fully aware of your submission but if you don't follow through pushing that last button ...penalties follow.

I found out chatting to the FSA person I dealt with this morning that there is a new option which is "Assisted Registration"

For larger collections or non computer guys
They will accept an emailed data base and a nominated and approved person to represent the collection owner.

Yes Realme was more of a problem than using the Registry, dealing with FSA has been easy and straightforward.

Unless they make mandatory the part about taking the form plus photo to police in order for you to get visibility of what is registered in your name, a lot of people are going to be ignorant to the registry being wrong until it eventually becomes an issue.
