Buying at ruahine was the trigger for me, but what suprised me was that walking back to the car I got an email from the registry telling me I had had a triggering event. I'd paid for the goods literally 5 minutes before. They have spy's everywhere 😂

Yeh. I am certainly no fan of the man and when I read the article behind the link I was somewhat incredulous that he couldn’t understand that firearms records are in a transitional period and that the NIA and the new registry will at least need to coexist until the five year mark from the beginning of the registry. Using B endorsement pistols as an example, the NIA will have records of all of the permits issued for all of the pistols held by B endorsed license holders (and the individual pistol’s back history of owners as well) whereas the registry which Police have indicated currently has records of twenty percent of firearms is not likely to have anywhere near the the records that are in the NIA. Why would they bin the NIA while it has (using my example) the most accurate records for B endorsement pistols and who has them.
It is also easy to spot Cam’s deliberate pigheaded ignorance in the multiple misuse of TPP for Te Tari Pureke which would quite obviously be shortened to TTP.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
There is a bit of truth in that too... Took me a while to work out who this TPP he's on about is - while I realise Te Reo can be confusing to some and the joke of the name is the literal translation appears to be the "office of knobs" the acronym he used doesn't make a lot of sense. Edit - I see Woody noted that as well.
Well,I registered everything today.
Had to ring them to do it,they did not have half the stuff listed. Good news is anyone registering a two band seargents model snider should now find one in the system!
Well here's some advice for when any of you get an email from them about guns they just don't know about and can't find a label for.
I had a number of my rifles queried recently.
FSA wanted full length images, action images and serial number images.
I supplied everything they required.
They came back ( after a quick google image search I think ) suggesting what Make, Model and caliber they wanted them to be registered as.
Makes, models and calibers they suggested they would prefer were all different from the correct ones I had supplied.
When they phoned to follow up why I hadn't responded to their email I told them I frankly didn't know what to say because they were suggesting that I have incorrect information on my registration.
I asked him to look down all the items in my registration and tell me how many Makes and Models he recognised immediately ?
His response amounted to 4% of my total registered items.
So my next question to him was " do you think it is an accident that I have so many guns you don't recognise ? Or do you think I might be a collector of less common guns ?"
Ultimately he accepted that I clearly knew the Make, Model and Caliber of those rifles because I owned them and had brought them primarily because they were not your average rifle !
It was a very irritating exercise in futility.
Photographs, emails, phone calls and what has ended up on my registration is exactly what I had originally entered.

Sounds like just another day in futile discussions with our local district council!!!
Surprised to find that change of firearm registration between registered owners must be completed by phone, thought a online system would be more appropriate.
Try telling an "Engineer" from Aecom that the photo you are both looking at showing 20mm bolts are 20mm bolts and not 12mm bolts
I find it quite impressive how many levels down I have to regress towards explaining it like the other person is a 5 year old, and I'm not that bright to start with
I registered a firearm ex dealer last week, he hadn't done his bit even though trans-action happened previous week. I had to do it over the phone due to caliber not being on the Registry list even though it showed on the manufacturers. The operator placed it on my registration list without knowing where it was purchased. Can see a system that is due to have great holes to fill.
I brought a firearm last week, completed mail form on the Monday. Seller was emailed on the Tuesday given the all ok.
I haven't heard a thing about mail order or about register.
I am looking to buy a new rifle, the first 'new' one in quite some time. I understand this will trigger the registration process. As I have a few old bits and pieces that have no serial numbers, does anyone know how long I have to get them numbered? It looks to me like I would have 30 days?
