Itold them that repeatedly in my submission .as ive posted i had queries re my shotties during hand in so called the rozzers 0800 number .luvly lady answered but to put it politely didnt have a bloody clue
She wanted me to make the POLICE decision as to the legality of my shotguns, given the list of illegals was FUBAR.
Matter was resolved when I referred to my handbooks and she happily signed of with well Mr ..........,we dont actually compile this data we outsource it and website creation ..its took me all my efforts to bite my tongue and resist saying "WTF to the local village idiot???????"
Speaking to a cousins daughter whose had a 30 yr career with police ,sometime later ,she rolled her eyes and echoed my sentiments .apparently a lot of the frontline pers were coping it abut when mentioned to shinby arsed biro pushing desk pilots up top they didnt want to know.'

This schemoozle' Ive got oodles of time FAL renewal not due to 2026 so cIm in no hurry to play the game,Ill sit back with beer and chips and watch the Blue brigades version of "yes minister" unfold.
anyone care to open a book with bets on new police minister before october??

    I'm all done.
i used both methods both online and phone.
yesterday i went online and done the modern stuff it was pretty easy.
today i phoned and done all the antique odd ball shit.
again, easy enough very friendly service it did take a while just due to the odd ball nature of the firearms about 30mins for 6 firearms.

i just wanted to get it over and done with so I can get on with life without the need to fuck around and beat round the bush

Just pondering on the next five years, which is the time frame for entering your details on the register: there are around 264,000 LFOs in NZ; each would have an average of 5 firearms (some collectors have over 100) giving a nominal figure of 1,325,000 firearms to load onto the register, with sales/purchases/swaps occurring probably daily, necessitating updating the data....she's going to be a big job to keep it up to date and accurate...

    Thats an understatement
My suggestion is to keep a record yourself also with the date you registered the firearm and any other information you think may come in handy in a dispute situation

It’s going to be a dog’s breakfast for sure
Just need to cover your own arse aswell as there’s bound to be screw ups
And the FSA will take all the information they have as gospel but it’s bound to get mixed up at some point

It’s not going away and it is sadly the law so just gotta get on with it

I haven't been around here long, but I know for sure one thing that this register will achieve, @dannyb might actually hold onto a gun for a while now!

the only toruble there is these thick pricks who birthed this schemoozle ,didnt have a clue its all due to the byproduct of defective discharge from a mutton musket.had the sire had any sense hed have shot a load into the pisspot and shov ed it under the bed .end of story.

^Probably better than a bunch on here - they might be just smart enough to read what they have to do . . .

You say that, but from what I can see the online answer to anything technical is "ring 0800..." - which is great if they can give you an answer but.

Has anyone else started to have a crack at it.

I have 5 firearms, of those:
    - recently purchased off the shelf Rossi 17HMR isn't in the "catalog" ... need to ring up
    - browning trombone is only available in a 11,12, or 15 round mag option (no "I got mine fixed for 10 max") ... need to ring up
    - off the shelf Chiappa 22 isn't in the catalog ... need to ring up
    - Savage 22 is in the catalog, but has detachable mag listed as "N/A". Given the massive warnings about be prosecuted for incorrect info I'm scared to go with N/A with the correct answer is Yes ... need to ring up
    - Ruger American, same as above, detachable mag is listed as "N/A"... need to ring up

And the entire system looks like its all forms online but there is some sort of human manual validation going on behind the scenes. I added in my contact details (phone, email) and got a "Your request will be processed according to priority" message (although that went to my newly added email address so... I dunno wtf is going on).

    What a massive clusterf**k.
