    Its a chargeable offence. I dont recall the max punishment, but it would probably be along the lines of a fine (and they arent small), loss of privaleges, depending on seriousness reduction in seniority/rank. Not sure if a trip to SCE would result.

    It's not a case of him dragging a work colleague down with him. It's a "I fucked up, hey mate, here's where I was - are you in a position to mitigate the risk". Given the officer's proximity to the firearm, it was the only responsible option he / she had.

    Or they could have done nothing.

    I once left my dumpy level on a jobsite and had to call one of my labourers to go back and get it. Does that count?

    I found a sst rossi 44 mag 2 years ago left on a big log by a coded forestry gate , presumed the dude had the code ,those gates can be a bitch to line up correctly figured that's why he forgot the gun probably had a wet arse from sitting on the ground decoding the thing ! dropped it at the local copshop they said if it wasn't claimed within in 3 months its yours & said chances are he probably wont as hed loose his arms licence over it , 2 months latter I was in there getting my licence renewed the cop told me hed made a mistake & seemly guns get treated like cell phones & get destroyed !! what a waste .
