    It gets better

Mr Clement said the burglary of the 11 firearms in Palmerston North was a result of human error.
"Regrettably in this case for a reason we haven't got to the bottom of yet, those firearms weren't in the intended strong room, which the process requires."

They left the door open Pengy https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/a...ectid=12226089 and now Depputy Police Commissioner Mike Clentent has said "Handing them into police stations is one of the least preferred options with regard to how we want to take them back." Ringling Brothers Circus springs to mind.

I saw that. Basically the Police are saying that they don't have the security required to store firearms. A bit of a worry when you think about it really

Hello NZ firearm owners. Tailfeathers here. USA Hunter, fisherman , firearm owner and strong supporter of firearm rights . I read all the posts concerning this Police Station firearm theft. Watched the interview too. I was very impressed at the high level of journalism of the TV reporter. So well prepared, such direct and strong questions, and it lasted very long. The Police representative was properly grilled. I was also reading the post concerning safe storage of firearms, safes and racks etc. So what I am seeing between the two posts is that the NZ citizen firearm owner must store their firearms as well as transport and carry their firearms under strict laws and the police simply don't? You all have to buy and use safes that are well secured to your house's floors, walls etc, and the police throw them in a corner of a room wit a flimsy wood door?
All my hunting friends have safes in our homes. Not required by law, we just do. They are expensive and heavy for the good ones, but protect our property from theft and fire, and also importantly keep them out of the hands of sh*t bag criminals. ( cam I use this word? hope I dont get banned on my first post. Please dont take my criticism of the Police in that situation as a criticism of your country. All I have read and heard of NZ ispushing me to visit your great country. Good day,
    Tailfeathers

Welcome Tailfeathers. Do not be concerned, there is much stronger language that you have used to be found among these threads.
