    BUGGER…… very lucky!!!

Well … you can see for yourself that this is not good at all.The cause .. a mud plugged barrel .My oldest boy took a friend duck hunting for the first time.Holed up in a “blind” ….the first slew of ducks passed within range and 4 of them let rip….

LUCKILY!!my boy had his mate on the end of the blind, because of his inexperience…. My boy said the noise was deafening, with sparks and shit flying everywhere, one of them had 3 pellets removed, skin deep from the side of his head ,the other 3 no injuries….so bloody lucky..

I don’t want to preach here as you will all know what you would do or say with young ,inexperienced shoots… you get it…. Just bloody thankful no one was seriously injured!!!

All is not lost. Any good gunsmith could trim and thread the barrel for an external choke tube. It is a very common occurrence, especially with inexperienced shooters and, luckily, injuries from such events are rare. Injuries are more frequent (and serious) when badly blocked barrels burst closer to the breech, usually damaging the forward hand.

holy shit batman!feel for you and the boys squire -definit ely a change of undies.can relate to the experience when i had a 12g shell go off in an unlocked chamber -noise shock and plastic surgery with 40grit sandpaper.it was my fault -reassembling gun with camo tape on barrel -didnt push barrel fully home into housing to lock it up -fault remedied camo tape removed -never again.c404&gspf were with me that day -thank christ it was only a 2 3/4 -had it been a 3"id have almost certainly been hospitalised. As it is Im now facing the reality of living with hearing aids as my hearing is going to the dogs.

@ kotuku…….yeah mate….took the boy a couple of days to tell me ….reckons the gravity of the situation had to sink in…..

Ive taught them gun safety since they could hold a firearm….sent them to several firearm workshops to listen and learn from those who know best….so its just not coming from the ol man.

My boy reckons he was keeping and eye on him,so none of them would get shot……quote”for the life of me dad,I have no bloody idea when he stuck the gun in the mud….i know the barrel was clear because i put a round through it,before we entered the blind”

Accidents happen….gun safety has no limits, you are constantly on the lookout just bloody thankful no one was injured or worse……I reckon it a reminder for us all

The gun is being hung in the garage as a reminder to all of us…..
