Another talented youth from Dannevirke. Congratulations Josie.

Josie Dean (15) of Dannevirke (representing Fielding Agricultural High School)National Secondary School Clay Bird Shooting Champs held in Christchurch last weekend. Josie displayed the form that suggests she is destined to become a top contender. Josie's scores have steadily improved since her parents purchased her her own Akkar Trap gun earlier this year. Josie is pictured with the Kilwell Postal High Gun trophy which was presented at the Nationals on Monday.

The biggest news for the day Josie Dean won HOA for the Ladies Lower/ Central N.I. Inter-college series for 2015, and came 10th place over all out of 60+ students. Congrats Josie that's awesome shooting.

seriously kids like this lass are a bloody credit to themselves+their families ,and in this case women -theres a 1000+1things out there that youth get wrong and its heard about ,but heres a young lass whose decided she wanted a crack on the shotty, put in the hard yards and shes reaped the rewards!you bloody go girl!

We had a couple of pretty young girls - women join our club awhile ago and it's been great to see the the attendance numbers at the shoots go up dramatically .
It's amazing to watch all the old buggers who never help with anything suddenly " come alive " with advice and offers of help and coaching .

It is always great to see young people shooting full stop , it doesn't matter what type of shooting , male or female , talented or not .
A group of 15 from my club went to the Queensland State Skeet shoot last week and one of us , a young bloke called Cooper ( 18 years old ) won the Handicap event by shooting 149 straight . In the end it was just him and a AA shooter in the shoot off and young Coop just kept smashing every single target like he had been doing it all his life . He arrived at the shoot a B grader and left probably AA . It honestly was a great thing to witness and the confidence and attitude change was extraordinary .

well if you need an example of a woman whose happy to foot it with any bugger -youd be hard pressed to go past our very own queen of the camo "Dougie",and I mean that in the most genuine way .Ive met her and she sure as hell leaves an impression!
yep couldnt give a fat rats who you are if ya prepared to have a go youll do me ! Its just such a buzz to see the reaction when someone whose never handled a firearm before gets that first shot away and beams from ear to ear. If they manage to clean up(nail target or otherwise) in the process its even more rewarding cause I feel Ive managed to pass something on ,but more importantly conquer a lot of BS bandied about in respect to firearms. oi dundee can you pass on to the lass that wee gun looks just the deal too!

Onto the thread, I see the top female at the World FITASC shot 182 the HOA George Digweed 190, so ladies can more than foot it with a shotgun.
We'd like to see more at our S.I. Sporting Clay Shooters Club but I suppose they have so much to select from these days, and it's not exactly a 'household name' sport.

As you will be fully aware , on trips like this the shooting is but a distant second to the power drinking and story telling .
This trip actually reminded me of days past when you and I and few who will remain nameless used to go to Greymouth to shoot sporting and maybe a even a better example Barry Town New Years shoot ( I still have a dicky liver after that episode )
I haven't had as much fun at a shoot as I had last week in years , I know what you mean about Skeet but I went to shoot the Sub Gauge events ( the 410 really sorts the men from the boys and wipes the smiles of many faces ) and I put a stir up he locals by wearing a Superman cape on day one .
The Sledging that went on in our Squad has probably never ever before been experienced at a State Skeet Shoot , and the look on the faces of some of the refs and scorers was laughable, but the funny thing is , at the end of the day we made made more friends than enemies
I will do my absolute best to get to the Sporting in Brisbane next year .
We will once again sit at a bar and drink Double Gin and Soda's , Tall glass , lots of Ice .

YOU REMEMBER!!! I must add a few Rieslings have slid down in the last few years as well.
I fully understand your comments, and yes those early days were unbelievable really.
We are back at Greymouth, S.I. Compak weekend mid January, and hopefully a full on Sporting within the next year or so. Forry has done an amazing job, diggers, new tracks, lakes, humps and hollows (probably really a lake in Greymouth!!)
Keep up the good fight and batter those Skeeters into submission, better still challenge them to a round of Sporting!!!!

I miss the Barrytown cash shoot.
Always come away with at least a free weekend of shooting and a bad hangover.

I had Mr Oz grand prix (BD) staying at home a couple weeks ago Madds. He just had his appendix out and was looking forward to some shooting.
I may have turned him to the dark side tho.😆
