Some advice from the sporting shooters on here...

As a leftie, would I be better of getting one of the semis with a shim kit to fit the gun, or look various O/U and try to find something that works ?

What is involved getting a O/U fitted ? Can someone give me a rough idea on cost for having this done, and maybe suggestions for someone in the Welly/Wairarapa area ?
I am driving up to the NI ipsc event in November.
Happy to bring my machine up if you want some one on one then. I don't shoot clays seriously anymore but still do alright if I do.

Shot an auto for years on sporting till I was given a good o/u gun which I hated at first.
Have a shot cam as well which is an amazing aid. If you're serious about getting into it I would advise buying one. My son kicks my ass when he can be bothered just by learning from the footage.

Having given this problem of yours some thought, I fail to understand why as a lefty, a different configuration of shotgun would alter your success. Perhaps if you had any wayward political thoughts just prior to pulling on the trigger, there would be a larger tally of misses.

C.O.F’s are typically set up for right handers. Statistically that’s appropriate. Sporting clays are pretty mean and I fucking love it. Don’t bother with a semi. I went full retard and got a custom perazzi. Never regretted it for a second!

I’m a lefty... shoot just about every other week... use an over/under and a Remington versa-max no issues whatsoever

It doesn’t.. I shoot competition ,various agendas....you name it we shoot it,in all the years I’ve been doing skeet competitions they are designed so no one is at a disadvantage. My advice, ask to use or shoot various shooters shotguns (if they will let you)then make yr mind up.Awesome fun

The Semis are fairly adjustable, and some are available in left hand. The Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus will be available in lefty before next duck season.

Over and Under's - Left & Right handed over & under's are cast differently (the curve of the stock to align the shooters eye with the center of the rib is different).
We offer a free custom fitting service on all our Beretta Over & Unders. It basically involves meeting with our gun fitter (Gavin Paton), who would look at how you hold the gun, how it aligns with your eye etc and make adjustments to the stock as necessary.

I would suggest you consider the Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon Sporting 30" then get it fitted by Gavin. (Gavin is an Olympic coach). Only problem is fitting needs to be done in Auckland.

as a leftie Iuse ordinary s/a or O/u no problems. mt escort can have shims fitted but have never bothered.bought a baikal o/u from c404 a while ago -it does the job sweet and if im feeling a little bored on our own private shoots i sometimes switch between the two .

Try being a right hand shot with a left master eye.
I used to be a fair shot on the clays but now not so much. older and probably some eyesight issues. really need to relearn it properly as I always seemed to get away with using the force.
BTW yes if the gun doesn't fit you are wasting your time.
There are a bunch of guns out there that have adjustable cheek pieces fitted.
You could make your own pattern board and adjust the cheek piece to suit where you want the lead to end up.
Once you have that sorted hide or throw the tools away that you need to adjust the stock so you don't fiddle with it on an off day.
I was actually under the impression a lot of shotguns nowadays have bugger all cast in them. pretty easy to check at the store.
