Yup but if using some snappy steel loads you will have more reduction in felt recoil. @gonetropo that's a bugger. Only load that never cycled my old A5 was some buckshot. Worked and still working with trap loads and up to 1 3/8 lead back in the day.
Getting the friction rings around the right way is meant to make a big diffo but I'm sure between you and Rod it was kosher

Do some trap shooting and try and let your first round off as quick as you can (one of the best bits of clay bird shooting advice I've ever had).

If you're confident you will be shooting just as quick as the semis.

Or keep an eye out for a second hand Browning gold fusion, hunter or silver stalker. Often found in varying amounts of wear and under the $1k mark.

Or keep an eye out for a older skb like a 1300,1900 series etc.

Ring around the shops and see what they have that's along those lines and I'm pretty sure you'll be able to snap up a nice semi for under you're budget.

Get along to either ashurst or feilding gun clubs both are unaffiliated meaning they can shoot whatever they like and thats ideal for beginners or those that could do with some encouragement. If you ask nicely you can borrow anyone's gun to have a go with.

Thanks but Ive shot the brother in laws semi auto beretta before , and its amazing.
Just dont know if it is worth dropping money on a semi auto if the shotgun I have is doing all I really need it too do. I would only use it once or twice a year , with duck shooting and clays leading up too opening.
Think Ill stick with the U/O for now.
