    Where can i shoot claybirds??

Hey guys been trying to find a definitive answer but no joy
Can I (legally) set up my clay bird thrower and shoot some clays at the beach?
South canterbury area browns beach etc somewhere like that.
Or anywhere else local to me?
    Thanks in advance

go and see the good folks on north street...... there used to be a area south of timaru...normaby area where lots of stuff got shot down on the beach as its a seldom used bit of area....beach road to the north is the same BUT if other people around...go home till later, fella I know got in shit 20 yers ago down there but it was 01;00 and he was using SLR (and I suspect magdumping tracers out to sea) he got rifle taken off him for couple of weeks.... thats the only person Ive heard of getting into trouble down there..and with good reason..being a dick.
a friendly farmer will be MUCH better option long term....

I can shoot waterfowl in a lot of areas where bombing clays would be frowned upon...a few random shots Vs sustained barrage...
which brings up option of opihi river in area like roaring meg road to also ask coppers about.

    Awesome appreciate it.
Can you legally shoot on river beds??
I hunt on a couple farms in Otago/waitaki but bit of a drive to just shoot some clays.
Think I need to go ask some local farmers nicely

I think the answer is the same as for other kinds of shooting. Where you have permission to shoot AND doesn't cause a disturbance to others. I'm sure that you could get away with it in a lot of rural areas, but one day you might not.

The shooting may piss a few people off but leaving behind broken clay targets will piss off everyone that sees them ?

interesting how a few folks do this off back of the boat...there is a lodge up at lake ohau that does it off the deck.... permission and not pissing off the Neighbours is the crucial bit.
