This is interesting...in a pigeon sort of way...did you read, like in the last six months, about the building renovators in England who found the skeleton of a homer with a the message holder on its leg...apparently they think it was from either WWI or WWII and they gave it to the authorities so they could decipher the message...

I'm surrounded by thousands of acres of crop, they just harvested the sweet corn in the last few weeks. Pigeons by the thousands off the back porch! Amazing that for every dozen or two you shoot, one turns up banded. Those racer folk must loose a lot of birds?

Its bloody interesting finding the pigeon details.............or shooting them up the tail

If you guys and girls want the band codes send me a pm

We had one land here a couple years ago and I caught it and a mate released it in Wanganui

It was back in Canterbury the next day. They are fast so well done members who have bagged a banded one.

I got one at the local Areodrome few years back when I was doing pest disturbance under a permit and a pigeon flew past the gun, oops wrong move bird I tracked the code back to a local who had let it out for a feed before roosting

I was walking home from school once and found one on the road it was walking away not flying I caught it and kept it. It started to fly and I was feeding it let it out it come back a few times until I stopped feeding it. Probably shot it in the maize paddocks behind the house.
