being a lazy SOB I am happy to listen to others that have good potential breeding advice .We will do the best we can to put soundly breed Setters on the ground to increase both our and others opportunities to own a great bird dog .The reason I did the import was you cannot buy a working registered Setter pup in NZ today -there are none I know of .I hope those that decide to run one of our Setters think like myself and John Pilcher and help continue this very pleasing breed by breeding more and more ......
Tweed or not to Tweed that is the question
I must admit Cmore I just haven't seen any other Setters other than Ian Hendrens dogs -I would love to see some others in the field for sure and do hope to meet you this season if you would like to have a hunt as I would very much like to see you dog work .I would like to keep a bitch from a breeding and have the bitches we produce -hopefully we have a few- go to other Setter enthusiasts to grow more dogs ..thats our little vision anyways

Full Berryfield / Wingfield? Or Woody and Gus too? Awesome if it was loaded with the old stuff. The last game ridge litter out of semen, did any stay here?
Would you reccomend Gus to Brian as a possible sire?
*edit* thats not talk to be made public sorry for the distraction. back on topic, sorry to derail it
Gus would be the first sire i would use if hes available
how old is gus? isnt Skid going to use him with his bitch this year?

i agree there needs to be a few more around, and am confident you will place most of your first litter, however the gundog market is a strange beast, you will struggle to home regular litters of pups, no matter how well bred they are.
i'd advise a frozen semen litter first off to hedge ya bets and take advantage of the homes waiting, it will give you the most bang for ya buck as far as genetic diversity goes as you will quickly get to saturation point by using the old kiwi lines first........ it's a timing thing.
